This seems as a logical step to go, even when it was only during test weekends. But yesterday I was chatting in-game and I realized that this idea is not common, so I’m writing it here. I hope in the next update we get to play competitive in two game modes
Suggestion: Execution mode 5v5 Competitive
This would show better how Execution plays out with more organized enviroment (not having high hopes for public matchmaking but still, people’ll get the point). I was genuinely slightly disappointed for not seeing it available for comp when update came out.
flexes his unpopular opinion muscles
I can see Execution being a greater competitive scene and experience over stopwatch, something tells me SD suspect the same as well hence the effort that’s been spent on the mode.
To be fair the Execution mode they have released is so significantly better then what they had before. I like the way it works now and the changes made through testing. I think they came out with a solid mode here, even though it is fairly cookie cutters from CSGO.
In particular I am loving the maps now they are finished. I just wish pesky shrubbery didn’t block movement as much as it does.
Totally agree that competitive execution with a lower player should should be implemented, but I feel that 6v6 would be a better choice rather than 5v5. Losing a single player would mean a bit less and it allows for some positional redundancy you don’t see in 5v5. Like 2 medics would allow you to push two different paths at the same time. You can do that in 5v5, but it makes it a lot trickier to manage and decreases your killing power/fire support.
I adore this mode, but I’m not sure how team balance will go with only 5 mercs. Any experience doing a private match of it?
I don’t think the game mode works too well in 5v5. Too many angles to watch if you split up on two bomb sites and then you get bumrushed by 5 enemies all the time = bomb planted and round probably lost.
6v6 or 7v7 sounds better but then communication becomes a massive pain, not to mention teams would have to find more members just for one game mode.

Yeah, the maps might not be set up the best for 5v5. I can’t remember at the moment. But essentially for 5v5 to work you’d have to make a map in the style of a vanilla CS map, 2 entrances per bomb site and a mid area. (2 people at each site and one player watching mid/ 3 people at one site with 2 at another. One of the 3 being in an easy rotate position)
This game just isn’t CS. The game play is different. 5v5 would just be too small.

This is exactly what happens in DOME, and it’s not guaranteed.

I don’t particularly like Dome for that exact reason but there is a difference. On Dome you can watch both plant positions from a vantage point and set up crossfires. Not possible on the existing Execution maps.
