Suggestion: Allow us to create unique keybinds for every Merc

Just a quality of life thing really which shouldn’t be too hard to implement. I play Fletcher with M2 as my detonate button (so it feels like TF2), but the problem is I noticed I can’t really play Vassili or Rhino this way because M2 for these classes are important to me. It kinda sucks to lose the hard-knife stab aswell (which I currently mapped to X so kinda feels awkward). Anyways, just a lil’ suggestion.

YES! please! I get so confused (cuz I suck at FPS and am an old fart) when switching between mercs to use keys to throw medpack/throw airstrike marker. This would really help!

I KNOW! I play fagger, so i use q only to switch to the frag and cook it with mouse1, but such a bind does’nt work on mercs like sparks or phantom. On sparks i have to click again to drop the med pack, and phantom just gets me killed a lot. PLEASE ADD THIS FEATURE!!!

I do have similar wishes when it comes to merc ability buttons (sometimes they just feel backwards on some mercs)… and I may have a possible solution.

While this isn’t the most ideal way of doing this, it might be a solution for you.
You could always try binding say… F5 to rebind all your key bindings to the way to like for fletcher, and bind F6 to rebind those keys back to a normal style for other mercs.

This worked before back on the UT99 engine, I’m not sure if it is still possible or not now.
If so, you may also want to take it a step further and set those binds to F1, F2 and F3.

If you keep Fletcher as main, you’d set F1 to remap to your fletcher bind, and F2 and F3 would change to your default binds for other mercs. If remapping F1, F2 and F3 makes it so you can no longer switch your merc, you may need to add the regular select merc into the new bind as well.

An example…

set input F1 selectmerc1command | set input j say hello! (except you’d put in the binds you actually want)

I don’t know if this is how you do this in DB or not… I really haven’t bothered with key binds since UT99… but give it a try and see!

Sure its a good idea, but i think it is only limited to a few classes, like Fletcher, but the feature would be kinda pointless for a class like Phantom…

Merc specific keybinds would be awesome. The same Ability key that throws Medpacks as Sawbonez throws the airstrike as Skyhammer and the nade as Fragger? Yeah, this threw me off considerably when playing as 'Hammer.

It applies to a lot of mercs.

I personally would use one set of binds for Medics, one for Fire Support, one for Feltcher, Fragger, Vasilli and Red Eye, one for Nader and Phantom.

I made a similar thread to this like 2 weeks ago asking for the same thing. And I was going to make custom binds like SnakekillerX suggested, but I haven’t gotten around to it yet.
