[Suggestion] Allow matchmaking option for players to fill in currently running games with empty spot

(Moley) #1

Hi guys! Great game so far.

After playing a few rounds of matchmaking it occurred to my friends and I that once a player leaves the ranked stopwatch/objective mode match, their whole team suffers by having to continue the match with a man down. I noticed that the player that leaves the match preemptively gets a penalty (which is a good) but I feel like the game should continue on with full teams.

My suggestion is to provide an option in matchmaking lobby to allow players to choose if they want to fill in a current spot in a running game. There are many players, including myself, that wouldn’t mind filling in for games that are missing players to let it continue running as a healthy 5v5. You could optionally include an incentive for these fill-ins (eg. bonus xp, credits, etc.) for players doing a good deed.

Without an option like this, I feel it will be very hard to enjoy ranked games once someone disconnects.

Thanks for reading!

seems reasonable

yes please, so many games ruined. The second round of a stopwatch game is almost always uneven.

I seriously hope this happens. Right now almost every game gets ruined early on. Hell, I just had two in a row get ruined before the match even went to the map screen because the game started at 4v5 (when it’s not supposed to). I really like the idea of giving incentive to players who choose to help complete games.

I seriously doubt this will happen, since Competitive matchmaking’s intention is to play whole match with given group. In similar fashion what you see in LoL or Dota.
Issues lies elsewhere in my opinion, like in current punishment (though they’re not harsh at because of beta) and giving information from what’s expected from players when joining to matchmaking queue.

The main reason for this situation is that keys were given to random people, even those who have no idea what to do in this game.

I think the main reason is that matchmaking is forced, so peeps that just want to hop into game see how it runs, are going for matchmaking; wherein they don’t care about staying for the whole round. I can very well imagine some of the leavers who drop at SW half-time don’t even realize the game isn’t over yet.

I like the idea. I think it would be good to at least have the option available.

That’s something comeptitive matchmaking definitely needs. It may have it’s limit though : when it’s about a team vs team match for exemple. You may not want to see a random player joining the game because one of your guys glitched out. So I’d suggest in addition to create a sub-version of competitive matchmaking for team versus team.

In my opinion it would be a mechanic solely for casual play anyway. Competitive ranking kinda loses it’s purpose when you can just hop in a ongoing game for the last 2 minutes and get a win or a loss based on that small time played. So for me it would definitely be something to be introduced to casual matchmaking, but not competitive as it is.

I don’t know. Losing a competitive match because one guy ragequitted or glitched out is really frustrating, and that’s really understandable. But indeed it’s not called competitive for nothing.

Anyway we have to make the competitive gamemode as well suited for team vs team as possible. That’s the only thing I am sure about.

Fine but implement some rules:

  • match should not be lopsided
  • match should be under half time

Titanfall was ruined due to joining losing fights with just a minute to play.
