Suggestion: additional firemodes

(acQu) #1

I am bad discussion maker  I basically just want them without overly debating what consequences these might have. Personal i am just more of a trial and error guy, so i would add this feature (if it were my game :D) and see player feedback and how they feel.

So what i think would be fitting the game is two different firemodes:

a) infinite burst fire (like we have right now). This will result in the same gunmechanics like we have now. No changes.

b) 1 shot burst. Basically you can shoot only 1 bullet at a time. This would make your accuracy go up immensly. I think this would not conflict with sniper weapons, since they 1 shot kill. This 1 shot is just accurate, with the same hit calculations a normal shot would take. You will not have any advantages from this infight, since the other firemode is better for this, even if it is less accurate. For medium to long-range distances this would make a small difference though.

Personally i think everything that adds variance and fits the concept is nice. In my eyes it fulfulls variance and consistency with game philosophy.

Raven Shield fanboi approves! Full automatic, burst fire (three bullet burst) and single shot.

Though not every gun has this or should have it. But suffice to say that if it’s possible in real life then it should be possible here.

I can’t really see the point in this, if you want single shot just tap fire.

Small things like this add variance. I want to be able to play around, try things out. Maybe i can hit better with 1 shot burst mode from distance ? Let’s try out. And voila, a little more depth to the game. At core it keeps players like me entertained for a while and from time to time; even if this is just a small thing.

if you want single shot just tap fire.

You would be able to make a difference in certain situations, trade more accuracy in certain situations against quicker firerate.
You would be able to make a difference in certain situations, trade more accuracy in certain situations against quicker firerate.
I feel like iron sighting already fulfills the extra accuracy role.

I’m not against this suggestion or for it though. I don’t feel like I would use it much unless it was extremely important to making effective shots.

This isn’t Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon. You have all the control at your finger tips already anyway, so why absorb time developing an auto-matic feature to do it for you. I find it also defeats the purpose of weapon types as well.

But if you tap fire you are trading firerate for accuracy.

This in my opinion is not a good idea. The amount of time and resources to implement is not worth it, when the result is a feature that you can already do manually, and may not even be beneficial at all. I would class this as complication for the sake of it.

I believe they allow you to do that in BF3.
Been a while since ive loaded it up though.

Um, why not just tap fire?

Confirming. They didn’t do it very well though, every time you died the setting was reset. I honestly don’t see the harm in implementing it as a cvar or bind.

Hm, shouldn’t have said that “trading accuracy for firerate” thing. It is nevertheless true when you wrap your mind around it, because at this moment you have not 100% accuracy on the weapons, there is always a little recoil, even if you tab-fire, which would be inconvenient to do. But it totally distracts from my initial point, which is that it adds variety to the game. That is the main point. I do not see it doing harm to anyone, it adds simply another uncomplicated layer of firing. And it can be even a sexy one, depends if you want 3-shot-bursts ?! (that would sound a hell of a sexy hehe).

I mean comon, it hurts how linear the game feels at the moment. Add the thingy, pls
