Suggestion: Add spawn protections?

I just got done recording a match, were at the end I couldn’t even move because as soon as I would spawn I would die! No joke! I couldn’t even play at the end because we just kept getting killed as soon as we spawned, please add some sort of spawn protection, this is a much needed feature!

You mean invincibility? Because that won’t help much if your group spawns surrounded by enemies.

And the bottom line is, if you’re being spawn raped like that, you’re pretty much screwed anyway.

Looks like spawn protection disappears when shooting, similarly to revives.

I’d strongly urge spawn protection from normal spawn to stay for its fixed duration. Save a lot of hate that way.

for Initial spawns:
best solution is well thought layout (very advantageous for spawners). this is not gameplay breaking, quite the opposite.
so-so solutions are auto-turrets, or long spawn-protection.
auto turrets - not very well story-wise
long spawn protection is gameplay breaking.

for other spawns:
selectable spawns and forward spawn

not only does this add depth to tactix. but also solves the main problem.

if they are around u when u spawn - do not shoot! u have about 3 sec’s where they do not know if u will shoot or not so use that to pick where u will fight.

if that doesnt help you are probably a bad player / new player with a team of the same (beta concentration of very good to very bad / new) and so the solution isnt adding in a mechanic to “fix” the game - the solution is for you to get better

doesnt work on pub. because you have deal with 4-5 crossfire guns and all enemies are already at better positions. you cannot break through alone. a team communication can realy help here. but that’s another story.
in order for this to not happen at pubs there must be a well thought layout desisions. so that you can realy in those 3 seconds get to advantageous place etc.

I don’t think I’ve ever had a situation yet either in DB or in ET where I was being spawn camped and had no possibility to escape by myself. If you have reasonable skill compared to your oppressors, you should have all the chances.

If the oppressors are simply too strong, then breaking out of the spawn would be a symbolic victory only, since you’ll die at the next encounter anyway. So the focus must be on not letting such super lopsided teams happen, and I think that will be solved with the shuffle vote in the update.

If there’s any situation in which a shuffle vote MUST go through, then it’s when one team is being held at spawn for longer than one spawn wave. Anything else would be pathetic and in that case I would simply leave the server.

while i totally agree on shuffle vote being a must.
but nevertheless: if there is a unbalanced place on a map. it will multiply the difference in skill between teams. and a slightly better team will benefit from this. the more balance is broke - the more benefit. even if the skill gap is not so big.

If there is such a place, then sure. But I have never seen it so far (whenever spawn camping happened, teams were not even remotely evenly matched) and my guess is that we will practically never see it in competitive play. Usually it’s just too risky to get close to the enemy spawn, unless you are on a suicide run anyway (or hiding, so you can flank them after spawn).

Terminal 1st, when tunnel is gone. imho this is the worst place in whole game.
