[Sugestion]Server & Game Mode Restructure

(Verticules) #1
  • Removal of multiple lobby sizes, making all lobbies 1 size
    Execution, Stopwatch, and Objective: 8v8
    Stopwatch: 5v5 ( casual match-making queue w/ leave penalty)

  • 1 Merc Rule Stopwatch:
Stopwatch 5v5 and Ranked, squadless play w/ merc selection between respawns, 1 of a merc per team allowed.

THOUGHTS ON THIS MATTER:

  • Pub play, we don’t need different lobby sizes. The largest lobby size will minimize the needed servers and reduce the effects of people dropping in/out.
  • Stopwatch is supposed to be the heart of competitive and the balancing standard. Throw different lobby sizes, merc stacking, and leavers in the mix makes balancing a lot harder than it should be. A 5v5 mirror of ranked needs to be implemented.

No 8vs8 and we’re gucci.

5v5 stopwatch I am good with, but the Stopwatch mode really needs a tweak, I do not understand why people on Defense have to hold the first point for 15 mins, after 10 mins you will be fatigued as a team, and eventually the Offense will get the point just because people get fed up.

Stopwatch should just be Objective mode twice, plain and simple. This is the only competitive focused game I know that plays Stopwatch this way.

I have to strongly disagree here. I’d be happy to have 5v5 servers but more options is ALWAYS better. I sometimes like the extended chaos of a 8v8 stopwatch and I wouldn’t want that removed. There’s no good reason to remove it completely from the game. Allow people to choose between 5v5 or 8v8. You’re making big assumptions that only “noobs”/“time constricted” players play 8v8 matches anyways so let’s put them all on objective. I have 500 hours in the game and I still like getting 8 player teamwipes. So, no I’m not a fan of this idea. Adding the option of 5v5 matches would be a better solution.

Also, you people keep bringing up Merc limitations like it’s a problem. Merc stacking is a legit strategy. There are counters to every merc (except thunder admittedly) so just play the merc that does well against their stack or learn how to counter the strategy instead of complain about it.

@hawkeyeguy99 if we add more servers or queues without removal, we are spreading players thinner and thinner to fill lobbies.

Merc stacking not only make balancing content harder, but makes for stale team composition.

Again, more options is better. I just don’t think merc limitations are a good idea. I can’t think of a good reason to take away a double Aura strat on Underground or a double Bushwhacker strat to cover objectives with turret crossfire. Allowing people to take more than one merc into a match allows for different strategies. Taking that away completely makes the game more stale and more like other games similar to Dirty Bomb.

I do agree that if we institute any sort of merc limitation the 3 merc squad mechanic has to go, but I feel like it’s too big of a change for too little of a payoff.

To speak to servers, I understand not wanting to spread players even thinner, but you’re talking about replacing all of the servers of the most played game mode in the game. That’s a tall order. I can’t support that huge of a change as I still want to be able to play a 8v8 stopwatch game. Take away 6v6 or 7v7 but to replace EVERYTHING with 5v5 is extreme.

Understandable to want to keep 8v8 stop watch.

But we have different ideas on merc stacking, no worries. A lot of us don’t want merc stacking in 5v5.

what if the merc stack works ingame?

everyone can still bring aura to the roster but only one guy can use aura at a time

i think thats easier than trying to halt people from bringing aura in their roster
