OK, I made a model of a Douglas C-47 Dakota “Gooney Bird” as per request, and I learned how to skin and I skinned it. It looks fine in the editor.

Problem is in Radiant and in game it shows up with the shader not found thingy. Any idea why this happens?
Stupid Skin!
I didn’t realize I have to make a shader for the textures on it, I’ll try it then.
I found out what the problem was, it turns out that you need not only a shader file, but Milkshake’s QC file maker is flawed.
I have never needed to make a shader file for my textures on custom models. I also have never had any problems with Milkshapes QC file maker…did you read the tute where you are supposed to go in and edit the QC to get the correct paths for your textures?? Its really simple, although Im sure someone can make that part work, but I always thought of it as a FEATURE, and not a flaw. :chef:
Yeah I did have to edit it, and it should do it on its own. The textures wouldn’t show for me until I made a basic shader file for them all with:
directory/directory/directory/file
{
surfaceparm ____steps
implicitMap -
}
and then voila, it worked.
Hehe, all I have to do now is find someone to host my model files, I already made a site for myself
Either you are not understanding me, or Im not understanding you…why are you writing shaders for your Milkshape models?? All the textures show up fine for me without having to write any shaders. Thats my point…there is a tute on texturing in Milkshape…where you go to the Quake 3 Options…and Make a QUake 3 QC FIle…as soon as you do that, immediately, you get a window pop up of that Quake 3 QC file, where you input your paths to the texture. Once you save that, then you export your model to your CustomMaps folder in your ETMain directory. I have no idea why you are writing a shader file, and to actually have it working. Let me look for that link for you…
Aah, here it is…
Go to the Skinning Section in the tutorials, and go to subsection “Exporting”
You will see what Im talking about. Good Luck.
oh, I know it should work without a shader, but it wouldn’t work for me. I reinstalled GTK and I didn’t need a shader any more. Sometimes that program is crazy.
