Stuck

(Constra) #1

Help me if i want to test my map i want to open limbo menu there and it gets stuck :S
you can get the .map file here:http://www.speedyshare.com/339633801.html Could someone check it out and tell me whats wrong??

(Magic) #2

You have to put in the mapcoordinates.
Have sent you the file on mail.

(Constra) #3

Do i need to put it all to a script file??

(Shaderman) #4

No.

The mapcoords have to be set in worldspawn. You can edit the keys/values of the worldspawn with a single brush selected and hitting ‘N’. Every map must not have more than one worldspawn.

In Radiant 1.5 there’s a plugin to calculate and set the mapcoords automatically (Plugnis - SunPlug - ET-Mapcoordinator).

Btw please read the first post of this thread.

I really don’t know why people get all these errors?

I never had any of these problems, and all ever put in my map is team_WOLF_objective, blue spawnpoint and info_player_deathmatch entities…
no mapcoords or whatever (at least not during testing i mean ofcourse… i do put them in when i need the command map)

(kamikazee) #6

That’s because he’s doesn’t seem to use W:ET 2.60. That version had no problems with incorrect map coords.

(Constra) #7

yep i have 2.55 :stuck_out_tongue:
And btw:There is so much writing in that file magic sent me…I dunno how to put it to key and value lol…

Constra, this is very simple to do, you’ll find that a lot of tutorials will show you how to do it.

http://www.splashdamage.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1710
Thats the thread with a list of tutorials.

Tutorials are the best way to learn. If you cant find out how to do something in a tutorial, then try the search function on the forum. If you STILL cant find anything, then post your question.

Also, you should get 2.60b

Here is your map for download http://www.speedyshare.com/743425713.html - is ready for compiling

In your map are missing mapcoordinates . Always enter mapcoordinates, click ( shift ) on brush in front of you ( floor, ground) , pop up window
to key type mapcoordsmins
in value type this coordinates ( it is up - left axis X and up + axis Y )
And second to key mapcoordsmaxs
in value ( it is up right axis X and down axis Y )
in your map ( click on floor and you see what i type in window )
key mapcoordsmins
value -256 384 ( press enter )

key mapcoordsmaxs
value 1200 -130 ( press enter )

Sorry for my english, Hope that you understound

For good links on tutorials visit my web I collected them http://www.kic.ic.cz/links.htm

(Constra) #12

Okey got it now. But…Do i need to set it to all the things???Or only floor and wall?

(Kic) #13

No click on 1 piece of brush ( it must not be model or something what is constructible and so on) it can be little stone or 1 triangle of brush ( wall, floor, ground ) …

map basic requirements http://www.hummerdesign.com/tutorials/et_start.html

(Constra) #14

Dan sounds diffucult. But so basicly i only need to do it on 1 wall for exmaple?:stuck_out_tongue:

(nUllSkillZ) #15

Actually you have to choose a structural brush.
And you add these options to the worldspawn entity.

A simple trick to quickly see the mapcoords(mins/maxs) is:

  1. If you don’t have it already, enable the “Display Size info”.
Go to Edit -> Preferences -> 2D Display/Rendering and check “Display size info”.

  2. Draw a large brush around your complete map, make sure EVERYTHING is inside this brush when viewed from top-down. So it doesn’t matter if it’s 100 km above your map, all that matters is the top-down view.

  3. On the top-left corner of this brush, you should see the coordinates.
    In my example (Goldrush): x: -4464 y: 4376
This is your “mapcoordsmins” (top-left corner coordinate).

  4. With this brush still selected, press N.
    In the entity window, enter:
    Key: mapcoordsmins (watch the spelling!)
    Value: -4464 4376

  5. Deselect the brush and close the entity window.

  6. Create another brush, doens’t matter what size, at the lower-right corner of the previous large brush.
This brush should also display coordinates, which are your “mapcoordsmaxs”.
    Press N again and enter:
    Key: mapcoordsmaxs
Value: 3848 -4432 (in my example)

  7. Delete the two brushes, you don’t need them anymore.
You stored the mapcoordsmaxs/mins in the entity called “Worldspawn” and not in one single brush, so it doesn’t matter that you delete them.
