I’m tired of having to look at this forum post. Can everyone just stop arguing or if not just delete this thread please. If you are truly concerned tell the author about it and let them deal with it. If you are the author (victim w/e) tell him no, he cannot use it.

but deal with one thing - the map is very popular, ripped/stolen/etc or not, it is popular, it is very playable, people do like it.
no, why do you think i posted the readme in here. i thought it was obvious. if you really dont grasp what i mean after all been said i feel sorry for you.
also crediting an author who already ported the map is not real credits. the real author was not mentioned in any way, though a simple search would have done it. also shows that he doesnt really care about giving credits properly.
and i have to say one thing also: the time and effort it takes to create an original map with original layout is about 10 times more compared to maps which were reproduced. because when you build a map on your own, you will probably leave about 1000% of brushwork behind until you get an optimal consistency and harmony in your map.
not to speak about the creativity factor, which is about 0.5% on ported maps (touching the map you know…skill :rolleyes:) than on your own maps, where it is about 300% from the rough scatch until the final layout. whereas i have to say that the more skilled you are and the more experience you have, you will have to throw away less brushwork from time to time.
some of you dont know that, because if they would, they wouldnt claim stuff like
Anyway convertiing is maybe more difficult then creating a new one…

why don’t you show off your real face? use your primary account.
make a port-a-map competition, then we’ll see who would win it. the things that would matter is quality, and accuracy. to make it more competitive, let’s port maps from engine other than q3.
why should i credit valve, while i didnt use any of their files? i was simply working with sof2 only. and anyway, sof2 version is port of counter-strike source, wich is a port of old counter-strike condition zero, wich is a remake of old counter-strike. maybe i should credit all of them? how do i make sure valve made the map? u can never be 100% sure, it’s like with codwaw maps. treyarch claims they made all of them, but some mp maps were build by certain affinity. http://www.certainaffinity.com/callofduty/about/

@Indy - You took almost every file (other than bsp and textures) from my map. IIRC you did not even bother changing the texts like in limbo menu (nice “valley map” btw). But that does not really matter as you did not do too much to the map anyways, other than taking credit for it.
I could continue with the subject for pages, but I won’t bother anymore. This is it for me. If I will be banned for this post like Pegazus, good luck to everyone with their maps. Sit tight, map clean and be creative.

I see that, but since afaik, he did not take anything from the Valve version of the map then he doesn’t have to credit them. He could’ve credited them for map ideas but technically he doesn’t have to credit anyone whom he has not taken material from. You could argue that he has taken the layout from the Valve map but has given it a different atmosphere and added to it so it shows little resemblence to the original. As long as he didn’t copy it outright, he only has to credit for ideas, which is seems he has credited the one map already.
And as for whether crediting the ported map’s author which you believe is “not real credits”. LOL, it is real credits. Whether hte map is a port or not does not make them invalid, what kind of logic is that?

Some people really surprised me. I won’t mention any names, but those who believe IndyJones has been right in every way, should read the whole thread twice again to see the real reason behind it.
Everything he has offered to the community is stolen: textures, skins, maps etc. If some of you think that is right then think again. I get it, some of you don’t care about what the original authors have written in readme or agreement. But don’t be so lazy to open it and just read for once and respect something for once. And give proper credit for once, don’t put your name everywhere, deceiving is not right, even if you hide the credits in a way that nobody would see.
Never thought that this would end up this way. I thought people like to see new and great ideas, i thought we got already enough of people offering that. Then came Indyjones, deceived us and still he is loved. So I guess stolen work is in with kids nowadays.
To reply IndyJones message of the map being extremely cool i got to say few things. The map has booed of many times in different servers, by people. And it brought joy in to my face 
About the ban, i got no comment. IndyJones insults aaa4 and when i tell it’s not right to do that I get banned. Not one bad insult was made to Indyjones except if i remember right: “aaa4 is a lot more respected person, then you ever could be”. (If it’s an insult or not, i am not sure, and i won’t argue over it)

I remember that in many games you can see real cars with fake names (Mafia, Saboteur, etc…) and on the other side in all games there are guns which are called with their original names … MP40, M4, Thompson, AK47 …

It actually shows how ignorant you are as the definition of credits clearly defines exactly what I said.

Key word there. And he did credit the map from that other game which he believes contributed to the style and layout of the map. He does not have to state that that one was designed from the Valve Italy map, although he could have. You could have found that out yourself by looking at the credits of that other map and hopefully that guy had credited the Valve map.
Whether or not someone is worthy of credits is up to the author. I know whenever I make weapons for games I try and credits the respective authors even if they only did a small portion. Any work is some work and should be attributed to someone. But I don’t think that is the real problem here.
