FF wouldnt be “dangerous to implement”, its already the way the game is supposed to be played. Its already implemented, its just that there arent a single, even level restricted, pub servers that include this crucial mechanic and thats what bothers those who have even half a brain and know the pros FF brings.
The way it’s “meant” to be played is ultimately the design decission of SD. It’s their choice if they want FF to be a thing or not. They probably didn’t put it in because of the high damage abilities. They were probably afraid it would cause too much accidental deaths.
Look at how game is actually played in pugs, scrims, cups and tournaments. Not only that SD is known of titles such as W:ET where FF indeed was meant to be and DB has that written all over it; spammy abilities like Fletchers nukes, retarded pancakes and mindless concs must be actually thought through i.e. before throwing them in midst of a skirmish where your medics are having hard time against enemy. FF rewards skill and awareness, where as lack of it promotes spam and zero thinking of your ability usage in terms of how it affects your team. And awareness and skill are something I could imagine SD likes to promote in DB instead of the latter.

Again, awareness. It starts from launching the game already. As I said though, we’re indeed way too far in catering to casual mindless playstyle so default way to go has to be without FF, sadly. As we both acknowledge, some FF on servers should be implemented with fair reminder there is such mechanic in place.

Again, look at how actual games, in cups/tourneys and ranked/pugs/scrims used for practicing for those, are played. Rest is just casual thoughtless funsies. Which is not a bad thing per se, its just sad that its the default and has become most prominent way of playing. I’d prefer thoughtFUL funsies.

This was solely here about running a single stream with FF on at 8v8 server (which also is so far off from game’s original 5v5 format its unreal) for @$!#'n’giggles but looks like as Montiel was afraid, community is too simpleminded.
I don’t see the point for your argument then. “Just for $!#'n’giggles” yet you are also calling it a crucial feature… If it’s just for $!#'n’giggles then why even bother? There are more important things to focus on then doing stuff for $!#'n’giggles…
I may of have not emphasized it enough then it seems, but I tried pointing out the issue is 8v8, not FF. Those 2 don’t go together solely for the reason of DB itself not being a game ment for having 16 goofers running about the map.

Community streams are for goofing about anyway, which is exact definition of “shites’n’giggles” for me. They are streamed anyways no matter the format so them “taking away focus from important things” is bogus.

Yes, the thing is that with a MP game you have to make clear from the start if it’s a game with more “hardcore” (by a lack of a better word) options. Especially with a game like Dirty Bomb where explosives are really common. The things I’ve said about the airstrikes might have not been a problem if SD decided from the start that FF would be a standard option. And if they marked the zone of the friendly airstrike for the team members so that they can easily go out of the way. Both things though weren’t designed like that.

So that’s why I said that by now (and that’s what I meant with my first comment), it’s too late to make it a standard setting. A few seperate servers are maybe still possible, who knows. Personally I would limit the FF servers to max 6v6 since 7v7 and 8v8 are a bit too much for it imo.

And I would definitely love to see some FF servers. Maybe a message when you want to join a server; warning you that you are joining a server with FF turned on, would be a good idea. The players simply have to either click accept or decline when the message shows up. That way nobody would be able to use the excuse: “I didn’t know FF was turned on”.

I love to play both. Depends what kind of mood I’m in. Sometimes I would want to play a match with FF turned on the other time with it turned off just to relax and goof around a bit.

Yeah I sometimes like the chaos of an 8v8 match. But 6v6 is absolutely ideal for competitive play. It’s actually the same way as CSGO does it. 5v5 in competitive and 10v10 in casual. Both can be a lot of fun but for different reasons. The maps in both games are not really made for those amount of players but it can be fun just to experience the chaos of it

Only thing I meant about that focus part in my previous comment is that I’d either want them to actually put the effort in it or just leave it be. Not something inbetween like just do it during a community stream.

And though I’m a fan of FF in games, I do realize that there are other aspects that SD (at least imo) has to focus on. FF on servers would require some changes. Like I said earlier something simple like the message of joining a FF server or the marking of the airstrike zone (in a better way) for teammates. They need some work and I doubt something like that would be on the priority list of SD. + We both are a fan of FF in games but a lot of people aren’t and SD is also dependend on them.

This, ladies, mentlegen and possible transportation devices, is how you settle an “agree to disagree on some parts”- arguement without a verbal bloodshed. Kudos tominatorx.

That’ not what the masses want to see. Dont you have anything to say about his sexual orientation? Or the number of men his mother has had intercourse with. Of whom you were one?

Starts to chant

Blood! Blood! Blood!

For a good conversation you need 2 people willing to listen to each other. So kudos to you as well.
