Stop giving missions for comp mode

(FilterDecay) #1

Until you guys figure out what you want comp mode to be stop giving missions for it.

I was just in yet another clan vs pub game to finish a mission and it was ridiculous. You can not expect pubbies to play against a clan no matter the skill level. The clan has worked together and has practiced tactics that the pubbies do not. There is no imbalance greater in this game then comp mode.

You end up with 4 people who have no mics and one is afk another leaves right away. Competitive mode should be competitive. My suggestion is when you see 5 friends match them with 5 friends. This will always be a clan. If they have to wait 40 minutes then so be it.

Ok I’ll stop if you insist

They removed secondary objective missions because the community “had been heard” - but seem to have not addressed comp missions at all. I don’t care if they stay or not, but it’d be nice to at least hear something from them about it. I thought they’d said on stream that they weren’t even in the game on purpose at first? @Faraleth we need you!

(Faraleth) #4

@Backuplight Yep, they did indeed actually say this a while back… but it may have been wrong/mis-information, because as of now, we got a response the other day in regards to the status of the comp missions.
Can the “Competitive” missions be removed or replaced with something else? Forcing people into competitive matches is not how to persuade people to play it.
Missions aren’t intended to ‘force’ people into any particular method of play, but instead encourage people to move outside of their comfort zones and experience more of the game. If players don’t want to complete a particular mission, they can easily be abandoned and do re-stock every 3 hours.
Hope this helps! ^.^

I think @Faraleth might be a bot. Just getting it out there. Thanks for the speedy reply as always F :grimace:

(SirSwag) #6

I live in Australia and I’ve not once been able to get a competitive match.

They’re neither human nor robot, they are both. Faraleth is, most definitely, a CYBORG.

That would be great IF competitive mode was competitive. Having a clan beat up on pubbies in RANKED games because there arent enough people playing comp mode to have clan vs clan is crap and is counter intuitive to getting more people playing comp mode.

I think having clan vs clan match making would be an amazing addition and push a lot of people to clan and comp play in that regard (and the rewards and drama that brings). But you should also have pubbie comp play as well. Because clan vs clan is competitive AND pub vs pub is competitive. But clan vs pub is not competitive.

When I played competitive rtcw we practiced maps like 8 hours a day. If you forced pubs to play against us lol wtf? Thats where this is headed. If we had a match making system back then that pit our clan up against another clan - Wow. I would scrim only.

They can say “it brings us out of our comfort zone” and that’s all and good but in reality, people are just getting frustrated going up against amazing players. You can make a group of five and go into comp if you really want, but all for 500 credits? Come on. These missions hurt more than they help, and that’s coming from someone who plays 30-40 comp matches every day.

(FilterDecay) #11

amazing players are fine. Amazing players with unknown teammates will not be as good as average players with a strategy (everyone knows the class they will play) and tactics (everyone knows exactly where they will be for each point of the map)

(terminal) #12

Then get friends.

(Lumi) #13

Well I believe they removed secondary objective missions because they just didn’t know how to fix them. Otherwise they would have heard the community also considering competitive missions…

(Jostabeere) #14

Stop complaining about optional missions you are free to skip.

(Potato_Ladder) #15

Not everyone wants to wait for 1-3 hours for a new mission

No everyone needs 500 - 1000 credits from a new mission

(Matuno) #17

Have to admit, I’m not keen on getting these missions either. I play comps when I feel ‘up’ for it, it’s one of those things that stress me out. I could choose to ignore it, of course, but that brings up a negative feeling of losing out on credits.

That, and the missions drive casuals to run competitive mode, which can be frustrating to his teammates. Not that that bother me much (I trust matchmaking), but it would’ve been nicer to have a communicative team. That’s what competitive’s all about, right?

TL;DR mission makes me feel bad and it shouldn’t.

Not everyone need to do all missions.

Yet they removed secondary obj missions… Oh well, play competitive… sure… even tho rarely but yeah. Win matches in competitive? HAHAHHAA… no, that’s even worse than secondary obj missions.
Seriously SD, fire that guy who keeps coming with these brilliant ideas

Make completing secondary objs actually count as secondary obj. Seriously… if they can’t make that happen, how in the earth they are still in the business…

(Amerika) #20

Yeah, I think this is flawed logic. It’s always better to give positive incentives than it is to force somebody out of their comfort zone. Letting people choose is always better than forcing in my experience. An example of how this could be done differently is making missions that are specific to competitive mode only. Do not take credits out of the pocket of players who do not want to play ranked MM by taking away one of their normal missions. Make the mission and some other missions a bonus for playing in ranked MM. Let people choose if they want to go for those extra credits or not while also not taking away from their current credit gain.

I am not sure why SD hasn’t done this other than it would take time to program which takes away from the bug fixing and other features they want to launch.
