Sticky grenades

(Necro-) #1

has anyone figures out how to use these properly, unless im in shotgun range i can’t seem to land them, and the few times i do 99.9999% of the time they dont blow :\

so do any fellow operatives have tips for using them ;p

Disguise and troll on random enemy.

(Necro-) #3

well i figured that, but like other things you lose your disguise and usually, after throwing the nade you either die or it gets disarmed by a friendly ;\

Sticky grenades, like a lot of other operative perks, are pretty bad. I feel they got screwed over as a class.

But most of their play style is solo anyway so whatvever. They don’t even have a perk to hack faster which is very bad since that’s their biggest role in the game. The whole “spy” type gameplay has really never had a big impact in any ET.

(Necro-) #5

i disagree, operatives get considerably better when you get comm hack and hack turret.

only rank 4 but the only abilities i find pretty useless is the control turret and sticky grenade.

(CENB71) #6

Same here, but it’s alot of fun doing that.

Spot on. Really, I agree with all of your points.

I think Operative pretends to be a sort of a offensive/disruption class. Ironically, I think they may actually be much better off on defense. I would play Heavy Operative with Comms Hack and Caltrops. Comms Hack sounds like it’s much more useful on defense than offense (once people get used to looking at radar). Radar is good on defense to show which way the enemies are coming, especially if there are many possibilities. I would fill the 3rd spot with some universal ability, nothing sounds exciting.

Unless… can Homing Beacon be used by incapacitated operatives ? That would make it pretty good on offense.

I recommend treating them like mines. They hang around for a long time.

(Cheerio) #9

So far I have gotten a lot of sticks. They are really nice because most of the time the person is running away trying to get it off.

I hope we will find a good strategy or good use for the operative, used to be one of the most wanted classes, now they are the least played.

Hopefully SD can tweak the class and change a fee things, making it usefull.

(gee666) #11

I would imagine (not having the game) that they could be crowd controll items sticking them above doorways, to cellings in spawn areas, walls behind chokepoints etc, given the disguise ability you should be able to get quite close to the enemy

(ManateeMaster) #12

hm well an instant backstab kill for operatives would be nice.

(jazevec) #13

Does Grenade Shooting work with them ?

(Kill5Joy) #14

I don’t have the game yet so don’t hold this to me, but I believe that grenade shooting and sticky grenades are class specific to soldiers and operatives

(jazevec) #15

Stickies are specific to operatives, but according to http://brink.wikia.com grenade shooting is an universal ability.

(Zzxyz.Rd) #16

Yeah, grenade shooting is universal. I’m more curious about the fact that if you throw them at an empty location on the ground, if someone that runs over them will get them stuck to their feet, would be cool if that was the case.

(Necro-) #17

the biggest problem i have with stickiies used as mines is…they bounce!

(Heburnll) #18

Agreed, they should stick, hence the name. They should stick to walls too, that would be nice.

(KAS--Will) #19

I say do it to loners, as in, if you see a random guy, throw it on him… because I know as a light who gets stuck at least once per round, if you throw it on one guy in a group, they’ll just take it off their teammate… so throw it on a loner and if he’s heading for a teammate, hit him hard.

(Necro-) #20

how does it work, does it blow up on say a timer, or is it based on dmg the person takes or what?
