Steel's guide for new players

(SteelMailbox) #1

Hello, and welcome to my guide to new player. Now I am sure there are more like these but I decided I will make one to cause ATM I don’t see any general tips thread on the 1st page which is where people will look the most.
So let’s start the show.

  1. Aim for the head. The time to kill in this game is big. More than other FPS’s like this one. Aiming for the head is essential to rack up lots of kills. Guns like the Hochfir rely heavily on headshots since it’s bodyshot damage is absolute shit. Keep you crosshair at head level and practice on tracking. I would recommend lowering your sensitivity since it helps a lot. You’ll get the hang of it eventually.
  2. Use your abilities. I am not sure if you noticed but, every merc has more of a difference between them than just HP and weapons. Every merc has his own special ability alongside another ability that all the mercs of his class get:
    Fire support: Ammo packs/Ammo stations
    Medic: Healing ability/Defibrillator
    Engineer: Objective kit
Assualt: An ability that is solely for killing. Usually with explosives.
Needless to say what all these stuff do, except the Objective kit and defibs which I will go over later.
Those abilities are essential and are a core part of this game. If you don’t use your abilities I don’t want to hear you say “OMG that thing is OP” or “Noob team” You understand.
  3. Do the fucking objective. Every merc has his own way of playing the OBJ but all are focused for winning. There is no deathmatch in Dirty Bomb so your only way to win is through the OBJ. Repair the objective, defuse the C4, arm the C4, deliver the fucking drugs/EMP/Whatever the fuck those things are in Dome. Do the objective. Remember the OBJ kit I mentioned earlier? All engineers have it and it allows you to Repair/defuse/arm (No deliver) faster.
  4. Move, a lot. Part of the core mechanic in DB is movement. Every merc for some reason is a parkour master that can wall jump including Rhino and they can shoot and do, well, everything while in air. Crouch walking is the shittiest thing a guy can do in this game, STOP DOING IT. Crouching here and there in the middle of firefights helps to keep the enemy off your head, but crouching all the time makes you an easier target. When reloading and are getting shot by someone, jump like a fucking monkey. Learning how to long jump is important aswell and knowing jump spots is also essential.
  5. Run with the knife. This one ties to the previous tip. Running with melee out is faster and unlike CS getting caught with a knife out isn’t as punishing since you pull up weapons real fast.
  6. Revive. No one likes to wait 21 seconds not doing anything, it hurts your fun and damages your team. Teammates that are not yet finished are revivable. Meaning they will come back to life once you revive them. Unless you are a medic, only help someone up when in the clear. 1 down is better than 2 down. If you are a medic use the defibs, the more you charge the more it health one will have once he is revived. Unlike non medic mercs defibs insta revive which can help a lot in firefights so always revive.

Now that we are done with all the most do things let’s go over optional stuff.
Missions: The number 1 way to get credits in this game. Do them if you need credits.
Loadout cards: Bronze=Silver=gold=Cobalt=Obsidian. Get the best bronze card for the merc you want and keep it while using other card to try and get higher tier card.

That is pretty much all you need to know when starting out.
If I forgot something do let me know please.
