SteelRat's conversion of V2 Base (with screenshots)

After recieving several requests to port V2 Base from RtCW to ET I have started to do so. The original V2 Base map was a horrible piece of junk from a level designers perspective although it was very fun to play, it was also my first RtCW map.
Since then I have picked up a few things and I am still learning, this is why I now have decided to give the map idea a second chance.

I have asked Ifurita if I am OK to use the V2 Base name and that has been confirmed, Thanks!

For those of you that played the original map for RtCW; you will know your way around this map since the general layout is the same. The map is a bit bigger and with more interesting design though and some passages have changed to the better.

SteelRat - If you want to use the v2 rocket md3 we’re using for Ifurita’s map and in my V2 Factory map, let me know. I’ll send you the files.

Thanks! Please send and I’ll take a look, I know my rocket isn’t an exact replica but I think it is kinda cool anyhow. Do you have a horizontal version? I need that for the rockets on the trailers…

we’re spawning a whole series of V2 themed maps. The horizontal version is just flipped 90 degrees :wink: and there is a version with 3 parts for the near explosions. If you need trailers, I have one of those too.

Cool, I’ll take a look then!
V2 rockets are pretty amazing, they should inspire good maps!
I am kinda stuck in my scenario since I wanted to make a better version of my original map… If I would have made a new one I would probably have gone after something similar to what you guys are designing.

You should add some little eye candies along the rooftops of the fortress to make the tiling textures less of an eyesore.

Yeah TFate…I need to do something about that. Always hard with repeating textures, good thing you don’t see much of the map from above when playing but I will add some stuff anyhow just to make it more interesting.

There is plenty of stuff downstairs as well that I have not taken any screenshots of yet…

Work continues and here are some more screens of the underground environment.
I plan to release this map sometime week 17 after some thorough testing.

Objectives are in place and they are the same as the original map.

Hmm although I like your maps SteelRat, I would much rather see a conversion of Kung Fu grip or Breakout from RTCW. The maps of late seem to be very repetive in nature. Give me a conversion of Kung Fu grip, and you will get some serious play time.

Ahh yes good old Hummer and I belive Kommando made Breakout. To bad we can’t get some conversions, or Chavo to make a Kung Fu Grip map of his own CoughhintCoughhintCough.

Menzel made Breakout and I believe that he would be willing to let a qualified mapper convert it.

Was thinking the same since I don’t find my maps to be very repetitive :wink: At least not in the themes. BTW - Ringa that has been helping me out with stuff for my maps is soon to release his first map :smiley:
