Steam Start Pack Worth It?

Does anyone have an opinion on whether the Start Pack is worth the money, or should I buy a certain Merc(s) and attempt to get specific loadouts by buying Cases?

don’t buy cases ever, buy loadout you want in Bronze

I liked the Starter Pack personally, even though I bought it more for throwing money at the devs than the need for mercs. Though I say it’s fairly worth the money as it’s 5 mercenaries+1 - Extra 50K credits to buy another merc is good!

Regardless of how you buy mercs - be it through the pack or on their own - saving money for a bronze loadout is always the better choice. Do also take the time to watch gameplay videos about mercs + trying them out during free weekends. before buying them.

Yes. You should get it, it’s pretty awesome. You get 5 mercs and 50k credits, which you can buy another merc. And 2 elite cases.

It’s worth it if you have a stable job. It saves up a TON of grinding.

And don’t buy cases. It’s not worth it. You occasionally get cases for free in the end of a match. If you get enough, start trading up for bronze. Don’t go any higher than bronze, because sliver, gold, and cobalt is purely cosmetic. With cases you usually get dirt lead or iron. You’ll be VERY lucky to get bronze or higher, because it is really rare. But with over 100 loudout cards opened, I got about 5 bronze cards, 2 slivers and 1 gold.

I’m also considering to buy this pack, however… I’m not sure if I would enjoy all the mercs (besides Proxy, I love Proxy) and that’s what’s keeping me from buying the pack.

If I were a new player looking to invest money in this game the starter pack is where I’d spend it.

@Lissxy On the flipside you may discover a Merc you really like that you never thought you would?

I recommend the Deployables pack from the ingame shop - Proxy, Bushwhacker, Sawbonez + 2 elite cases. Great mercs.

There are 2 more bundles. I wonder why aren’t they listed on the Steam page. They are cheaper so may be more attractive to players on the fence.

The deployables pack is like 17/18 euros I believe (not sure), the starters pack is 28.

Deployables= 2 cases/mercs worth 110k

Starter= 2 cases/mercs worth 170k and 50k credits

With the 50k you can buy a bushwacker so you end up way cheaper.

I’m not saying Deployables is a better deal objectively, from standpoint of someone wanting all/most mercs anyway. But consider these points:

  • it’s 11 euro cheaper, so it’s way easier for new players to justify the expense in a F2P game
  • starter pack has Vasilli, who is not a merc enjoyed by everyone
  • same thing with Arty, but to a lesser extent. His abilities are close enough to Skyhammer that he is probably nearly last in line to purchase in comparison to other mercs
  • it looks like whenever there’s a big merc giveaway, it’s Fragger.
