Steam Replay coming to Brink?

(SockDog) #1

Valve today announced a server based recording and user editable demo/video system for TF2 ( http://store.steampowered.com/news/5416/ ).

SD has been somewhat quiet over the video/demo functions in the game. Now I expect this is probably a Source engine function rather than Steamworks but thought I’d ask if Brink will see this or something similar at release or soon after?

Replays have been in source before, but for TF2 they created a specific mode so editing and capturing would be even easier.

I did hear something about spectating and also recording being in the game.

i really hope SD something like this post launch.

This is a source engine feature, doubt it’s coming to BRINK. It took Valve almost two years to implent it. Doubt we are going to see that kind of support from SD.

That would be amazing. Really amazing.

Seems like a far stretch. I admit it is somewhat possible though.

Would love a sharing feature like that.

Did anyone ever confirm if FRAPs were just visiting SD for giggles or whether it was serious business? The ability to download server demos and some mature tools to use them in combination with Fraps might be a fair compromise without the expectation of some massive demo recording and editing system being put in the game.

Won’t Brink have a similar Demo Rec function to ET:QW?

hopefully with more options

I think we can be fairly confident of that but it wasn’t the greatest. Would be nice if something was snuck in there.

best part is if 1000 people see your video you get a hat.

I believe that the recent wall of text from the Germany event had a comment about a “Demo.” Since we know there’s no pre-release demo…
