Steam overlay not working

Just as the title says. The overlay works in all other games, it’s turned on for Dirty Bomb, i checked it. It worked fine before and then the other day it just stopped working. When i try to use it it just says please enable the Steam in-game overlays in your steam settings to use this feature. It’s enabled -.-. I’m not running any programs that might interfere with it. Please help

This worked for me:
Shut down steam and find the steam.exe on your pc, right click it and check the compatibility. If it is set to windows 7, windows 8 or anything else, uncheck run this program in compatibility mode. Save the change and see if it works. Some people add run as administrator as well but i found that if i do that then my push to talk button on TS doesn’t work when I’m in game for some reason.
