What about steam market? Have I any chance to buy and sell loadout cards on it?

We have plans to implement trading in the future.

However, we have a list of things we need to get through first before we do this. The idea is to integrate trading with Steam market at the moment in the future, however.

Would it be possible to make an in-app trading system? We wouldn’t be able to buy cards off other players (which I personally think would be a bad idea, but that isn’t my point), but would it be possible to make an in-game UI for us to trade cards directly through DB? Would it be easier to develop the system like this and bypass Steam’s regulations altogether. Perhaps loadout inventories could even be integrated into a player’s profile, with players choosing 1-3 cards to showcase (but we’d need a way to look up other players and spec their profile).

I don’t know. I ramble. tl;dr would bypassing steam be an option?

Because for a long time and a fair amount of such threads noone official visited such threads and replied to them in this way.

Let’s look at a few facts regarding trading / steam market integration.

  1. People have been requesting this for a long, long time.

  2. The people making this game have not even started working on a system.

  3. Progress in this game has been incredibly slow.

  4. If they told the community that trading would not be implemented in the future, this would affect their bottom line, as IMO less people would be willing to purchase items knowing they’re stuck with them with no chance of recuperating their money.

= Trading will not happen in this game, IMO.

We don’t know this, and so do you. Even if the CM is saysing what she is saying, it may be not true, since the progress is under NDA.

Well that’s not true at all.

To be honest, to me it seems you have no idea how complicated it is to implement a trading mechanic to this game. It’s not just slap it over the game. They have to do a ton of work to avoid all kind of exploits, and work together with Valve. Which isn’t easy aswell.

@Jostabeere , Firstly we can only go on what we’ve been told. So the CM, shoe and others saying that trading isn’t being worked on and isn’t a priority is the official line, despite what you think ‘may’ be going on behind the scenes.

Secondly, while you may have the opinion that the game’s progress may be at a satisfactory level, others do not agree. In fact, many of the mercs that have been released are in the same state that they were in during Closed Alpha stage I believe. If you believe that the current progress is satisfactory, well that’s your opinion. Stating that ‘it’s not true at all’ comes across as, well, arrogant for starters.

And Thirdly, I didn’t comment on the complexities of introducing a trading system. I understand that this would be a difficult, complex addition to add, and that only reinforces my point.

Trading is a long long long way away, and IMO isn’t coming at all.

Interesting to note that you didn’t reference my point regarding what would happen if the CM came out and said no, trading will not be implemented at this stage.

What do you think would happen if they said that? They’d sell more items, less, the same?

Sorry, but it’s not my opinion. In the 8 moths I played the game SD released 8 mercenaries, a new gamemode, 3 maps and various smaller things. I’ve seen BETA games with much less content being released in such a timespan with bigger devteams than SD.
