Recently Steam implemented a new feature called Escrow, Escrow basically is the way Valve thought will help protect accounts and trades. What Escrow does is make sure both accounts involved in a trade have a steam mobile authentication enabled and only then you can use what you traded for. If one of the parties doesn’t have it then the traded items are placed in an “Escrow vault”. The traded items won’t be able to be used until both accounts have the mobile authentication which destroyes trading in general. This will cause the downfall of popular trading sites like, CSGOLoung Trade.TF OPskins and more. If you don’t think this is related to DB well you are wrong since DB is confirmed to get a trading feature that will be affected by this. A guy on Ipetitons.com decided to do a petition to get rid of these feature. As a guy that actually trades this has affected me so please sign this petition.

Wait so scam protection is a bad thing now?
Can’t you just, y’know, authentify your account?

You don’t got it. This system is not a scam protection. This system implemented to encourage people to use more SCM instead of trading sites, bots and direct trades.

@Ford_Prefect @Ctrix Is actually right.
The purpose of the system is to try and avoid scams from happening but it is bad by the way it is implemented and not the the purpose itself.

But why can’t you just authenticate the trading account with a business phone number?

It requires the Steam mobile app 1st, which means people without smartphones are fucked.
2nd, they can’t make people use the authenticator which means that if you have it and traded with someone who doesn’t have it then YOUR items will not be able to be used for 7 days, which is complete shit.

I still fail to see how this is the end of the civilised world.
These are fringe cases, and not even a big deal.
