Stealable OBJ???

Hi,

is it posible to make a stealable Objectiv for BOTH Teams?
If yes, what do i need for that?

I don’t think so. You can fake a single objective which either team can steal, but once stolen, it can only be returned to the base by the opposite team, where it could be picked up again by either team.

btw its not really hard to do that :wink:

u must make an allied and axis captureable thing at the same spot.
and in the script: when an allies takes the ‘blue flag’ hide the ‘red flag’ and vice versa :slight_smile:
so it looks like an objective that both teams can steal :slight_smile:
if u also want info how to script it, ask it then, ill help ya :wink:

@ Roeltje, that’s basically what I did for Tactical, in order to create a run token that would only allow one person into the course at a time.

However, that’s is also what I mean when I said you’d be faking it. True, you have an objective at a given point that either team can steal, but once stolen, it’s either a blue flag or a red flag. An axis cannot steal it, drop it midway, then have an allied player pick it up and run it back to the allied drop point. An axis player would pick it up, drop it, then if an allied player touched it, it would count as returned. Then again, maybe I was unclear on what you wanted in the first place.

Hi,

got an Idea.
Et is based on Q3A, right?
And in Q3A it is posible to make a real CFT Map.

I took some entitys for the Radiant in the et_entities.def.
Isn´t there an entity that allowes my to make a real CTF Map?
Sorry, Q3A isn´t my special but someone in here surely knows it, i guess.

maybe i can write the script like that that the OBJ goes back to the stratingpoint afert drop.

AFAIK you can’t control a dropped objective. Once it is dropped, it’s either returned by a player of the opponent team, picked up by a player of the same team or returned by the game after 30 seconds.

@T1G3R: The thing you want to do needs a code mod.

Try to look at Lanz’s mod, called Domination. (Used to be Powerball)
I believe you got some type of entity there which can be grabbed by both teams and can pass on.

That wont help him much, that’s the ball entity you’re thinking about and it’s coded for my mod, it wouldn’t work in regular ET. As usual things like this is easy to do in a mod, but hard/impossible to get perfect with a map script. It’s a shame they didn’t leave the 1 flag code from Q3:TA in there, that would have been perfect for stuff like this.

erm…

I think it is possible…
As you said ET is a Q3 based game…

2 the objective it self is the flag but placedonly in one place and deffended by one team
As Far as I know you can make CTF

but powerball would require more codeing…

Difference between POWERBALL and CTF:
In powerball there is only one “flag” that can be returned either to one teams base or other…
CTF = two flags two objectives that need to be returned to each base…

I even remember a small map that had this idea… wasnt the best… but would be a cool map to look at while constructing our own…

I thought he wanted a powerball-like game mode, done trough mapping instead of coding. That’s not possible without the mod code.

Look at my obj_101 tutorial map here. I have a stealable obj. for both teams.

Useless info: you cannot return a dropped item that was stolen from your team if you are holding an item stolen opposing team item.
