Status of Fletcher

Fletcher use to be one of the annoying mercs who seemed pretty OP. After a while, however, they nerfed him (After they were done mutilating old sparks). This was welcomed at the time, but right now Fletcher is eclipsed by other engineers from the games I’ve played.

Proxy is a much better explosive centered engineer (with the ability to shoot mines, her mines feel like a 2 for 1 ability, while Fletcher’s sticky and detonation seems like 1 ability in 2) with speed to compensate for 20 less hp, and Bushwacker is more consistent (His turret does area denial at a consistent rate, not the best for constant combat, but that’s another discussion entirely) with a much more consistent range.

I use to be so annoyed by Fletcher’s instant 100 damage, but now he seems inconsistent at best. Maybe if they edited it so that it did more damage to objectives then they would be more of a game changer both in and out of combat, like how both proxy mines and turrets tell you when someone is nearby, making him more unique from the other engineers.

SD could keep editing him for what people want, but I want to know how you guys would change Fletcher to fit into this game better, please comment below!

(Disclaimer: I am NOT a Fletcher Main, I just see no great reason to play him anymore compared to the other engineers)

Keep playing Fletcher.
Fletcher won’t be as good if you just pick him up right away, the sticky bombs are insane if you understand that your movement affects the trajectory of the bombs. Just remember this, Fletcher is 2 roles in 1, he is a very good slayer capable of destroying teams if he uses the shotgun (blish) + sticky bombs to wipe out the unsuspecting victims. Going behind (flanking), is the best way of doing this, go for the area where there is less opponents to go up against. After you’ve dealt with a few of them hop in and do the objective with the help of a few team-mates.

Fletcher has a learning curve, stick around with him and he will reward you nicely.

He’s still on the strong side. Proxy just seems to shine in pubs due to general chaos. Nobody checks for mines, so those are pretty much free kills. Also it’s easier to flank and deal massive damage with the mine + shot combo.

In competition, he’s the number one engineer for a simple reason : he’s the only one with an abillity that can be used offensively and effectively. A Proxy will probably die before reaching anyone with the mine + shot combo, and communication makes trapping with mines and flanking way harder.

What universe are you in where Proxy is better than Fletcher, and where Sparks is bad for that matter? I’m actually curious cause it sounds great.

Eox put it better than I could.

Nah, Fletcher is capable of wrecking face like assault mercs, and clearing camping nests - neither Bush, nor Proxy can do that.

Proxy is annoying to play against, but not really useful.

(Fluffles) #6

Fletcher is still my most played merc I believe. After the nerfs I did switch to Nader/stoker if I wanted an assault merc on my team but Fletcher still has the most kills by far…

He’s the best engineer when attacking by far but only because of the sticky bombs.

I didn’t say sparks was bad, she is my most played merc, I just don’t like the fact that they nerfed her so much in succession

I also notice that most people who responded to this have played Fletcher a lot more than me. I’m not saying I’m better than you guys at Fletcher, in fact quite the opposite, but in common play I’m not seeing a lot of amazing Fletcher players in the games I play, so I just wanted to point out a trend I’ve noticed for the most part, and I wanted to see what the community thought.

Thank you all for helping to point out what you thought[quote=“Eox;c-220175”]He’s still on the strong side. Proxy just seems to shine in pubs due to general chaos. @raspberryPike if it can make you cheer up a bit, more and more people trying to learn sparks now, they just realized how cool sparks is.

(Dr_Plantboss) #9

He does 100 damage if you get a direct stick.

Also, in what way whatsoever is explosive pizza delivery a more effective method than throwing a remotely detonatable meatball at an enemy’s face?

(JJMAJR) #10

inb4 they add damage reduction stats to all characters so that speed matters because of a long TTK with headshots.

(Szakalot) #11

fletcher has 110hp, bush has 110 (lol)get your facts straight.

fletcher definitely got a bit weaker since the sticky bugs (you throw it and it doesnt appear in-game or you throw it and it doesnt detonate), but is still a beastly engineer. i can see bush compete on some maps with kek+focus, otherwise its
fletcha all the way

YO
FACTS
RIGHT

also, Fletcher Unfair Speed Advantage

haha yes, its 110 both xD

Both engineers better than him right now? Bushwhacker only has the Kek-10 over him, Bushwhacker is objectively worse otherwise due to the awful state of turret. Proxy has 20 less hp and is possibly objectively the weakest Engineer, she’s only good in public games.

The only reason to use either over him is if you have a mission for them, just don’t want to use him for some reason as your engineer, or don’t own him.

Edit: Turtle will probably at least have 120 hp, so at least he might get something tangible over him even though I’d still call Fletcher the best even with 10 less hp.

fletcher has better speed, Machine Pistole secondary and his ability is more versatile and not grounded like Bush or Proxy
the sentry need to have an increase of HP or better DPS to be as useable as fletcher

I regret making this forum, especially since the first 5 people cleared things up and I recently got 52/13 in one objective game. I’m dumb, everyone rub it in.

Off topic, does anyone know if you can delete a forum?
