Status of Competitive?

I haven’t played too terribly long, but from what I’ve seen no one is really taking competitive seriously. People are always leaving, theres massive skill imbalances and it just seems like not very many people are playing. I might be incredibly and wrong and correct me if so, but my thought it since this game is supposed to be competitive it is really lacking in that aspect. The game is really early on but it just seems that competive is really broken as a part of the game. If anyone could explain the situation so far, to help me out I’d appreciate it.

The situation is competitive mode is new. So games will be imbalanced. Most people dont have ranks and very few people got ranks. Untill everyone gets ranks and the good people rise and the bad people fall a little its going to be a mess. Right now unranked 5’s are getting in cobalt games. I expect it to be like this for another month or 2 at the least till everything settles down.

its shet atm. needs higher level requirement, that could help against hackers and people getting stomped.

Low level terrible Skyhammers and Auras really sucks. Should bring the level req back up

i said this before the double xp/CR weekend has made comp mode accessible to the newb pool… the newbs(these are new guys that havent learn anything yet) cant learn the ropes fast enough with the 2x weekend and thus comes the huge problem of hey i can play comp now lets do it and then giving CBT players high blood pressure and facedesk moments… and of course there are the noobs(hackers/cheaters/douchebags that want to ruin games) who just love to get into a comp game and mess everything up while chat spamming some site originating in russia that sells hacks for 9.99usd a month

Thanks you for the clarification, I was worried that this was gonna be a issue they had to heavily work through. One quick thought though, do you think they will do anything about imbalances in casual games as well. I’ve noticed that there are few to none games that ever are close in skill. There is always a dominant side and that seems to stri unrest and distaste amongst the community. As well as people not giving this game a second thought, due to poor first experiences.I see this is a big issue and looking at your note to other issues, I’d like your opinion.

I’m not sure how the competitive is supposed to work, but I assume its going to put you in a league with people close to your level.

If so it will take a while before the imbalanced teams are going to disappear. You need to assess people skill level somehow and that means a lot of spanking.

I wish I hadn’t tried comp mode yet.

I had a few mates playing and enjoying it, we then went and played comp and they have all bailed on the game…

The problem was that out of 5 maps only 1 was remotely fun: the others consisted of us being killed at the spawn from the 2nd minute onward.(apart from the once where our team done that to the other team).

I’m quite aware that once the skill levels are sorted this probably wont happen as much, however, if it carry’s on like that how many will leave before they even get to a decent level?

I think an area around the spawn should give damage over time to anyone that enter’s it. It’s a bit silly that a couple of blokes can throw turrets up and spawn rape anyone that spawns in.

I love the game and wont quit its just a bit pants that people i know wont play because of stuff like the above.

Level means nothing at it current state. The game is new, everyone except the beta players are new. What is important is to give it some time, so everyone can get their ranks and the matches can be more balanced.
