The statics machinguns are really useless. I’m refering the MG that you can enter with F and manual aim.
God power but really low fire rating and low accuracy.
What are you thinking splashdamage?
sorry for my bad english.

I’ve found them pretty useful if you don’t care XP and more about distracting/killing the enemy.
They don’t appear to give XP for damange done, only a mere 20 XP for a kill. They do have unlimited ammo, I just fire until it overheats and then pop out, chuck a grenade, fire my personal gun, and then get back on the turrets
Lol, I think their under powered honestly. On the 360, there’s no way to slow down your aim, so aiming manually can be a bear, not only that, but at times when I’m shooting someone, even in controlled bursts, they naturally get out of my line of fire, so I again have to overcome the difficulty of lining up the shot again, I usually result in just spraying and praying until it over heats, then just dismounting, it’s great for a diversion.
I have also found them to be completely useless for anything besides saving ammo. Even on the first shot, the bullets don’t hit their mark. You can spray to try and make people duck their heads down, but it’s just better to use a rifle to try to kill them instead of making them hide. Reloads aren’t much slower than backing away from the gun anyway. On top of it all, you’re a sitting duck.
From everything I’ve read it seems like I’m the only one who likes the MG nests. Every time I use one, I usually get a few kills.
Its not that they cant kill anything, its that rifles and SMGs are just far more efficient at killing.
The main problem with stationary turrets lies with how rigid turning/looking is in the game, and the lack of a reduced ADS speed (which would only matter if you could ADS with it). If you could ADS with a turret, and look speed was properly reduced, it wouldn’t be such a pain in the ass to be precise with them. That aside, turret emplacements can be laser beam accurate. Feather the trigger, and you won’t miss so long as your reticle is on target.
I use them to distract the enemies. They don’t really have any other reason. It is usually painful to kill someone with them. The numerous time where holding my real gun would have killed the enemies instead of slightly annoy him.
Oddly enough, I recall that in ET they were actually viable and you could be a real problem to the enemy team if someone didn’t take care of you rapidly.
(PC player)
After learning to feather the trigger on MG emplacements, accuracy has never been an issue for me. It’s keeping the reticle on moving targets that’s the hard part.
I’m with the OP, low ROF and ridiculously low accuracy make them worthless, especially considering they always overlook bigger open areas. The only thing they’re good for is engineer xp
I like them too. They can come in very handy to dispatch the enemy and let your team take up that critical space.
I also like that the radius is limited because if you’re getting fired on you can try and get underneath or to the sides. Not so good when you’re behind them, but it’s fair
lol i find the opposite to you guys i fire them in 4-5 shot bursts with a 1 sec gap inbetweem bursts , the first 4 bullets always seem to hit and if there headshots you pretty much 1 shot the heavy.
