State of Play - Maps, maps, maps!

Where is the full version of camden?
Where are the larger/longer/open maps?
Where are the objective open servers?
Where is 8v8 on open servers that people can actually join?

Don’t get me wrong i occasionally like to play on small maps. just not all the time.
Whitechapel is ok and Waterloo has always been THE small one.
But Trainyard (excuse the pun) is a train wreck.its a massive anti climax everytime.
Canary Wharf has a lot of wasted room which only gets used for walking.
And Bridge is another cut off at its prime.
And as can be seen from the lack of players all the time, others feel the same way.

If this game is created around the idea that its for small maps,
it will end up too similar to every other ftp shooter.
Having large and adventurous levels can make it stand apart.

That’s got to be the most comprehensive post about maps on this forum.

Objective Servers are pointless… This game isnt set up for Obj play. SD even stated that one side has much more of an advantage then another. Go play an OBJ server an always be stuck on Attackers… That would be so fun! Not!

As for the other stuff yes! Bring back the other maps! and OLTL mode. You should have left OLTL just to see if people would have played it. I bet it would have stayed full if a few of the updates were tweaked with our feedback on it… It was so fast pase you didnt have time to get pissed off at the game… However shotguns and snipers would have killed it i guess. Medic’s also arent strong enought to revive in a fire fight so if a person does go down in OLTL then they are f’ed…

go and buy the last of us :stuck_out_tongue:

(Glottis-3D) #89

imagine this crane to be manually moved, so that player could choose, where to stop it. If the player goes full move - its one passage, if player stops it earlier - another passage, But if he stops it exactly at lets say 84% he would open both passages? one of which is only accessable via long-wall jump combo. wouldnt be that much more appealing and interesting?

(montheponies) #90

Five pages in, probably time for me to repeat myself;

I hope that at some point larger maps will be made specifically to suit the Objective (aka pub mode), leaving Stopwatch with smaller (not small) maps with only one or two primary objectives and meaningful side objectives/forward spawns. No one wants a Stopwatch map to last 30min a round, but that can make sense in Objective mode.

Also hope the spawntimes get fixed properly and as funk has stated we get Friendly Fire tested, given that it’s how most of us would expect the competitive game to be played.

(RasteRayzeR) #91

Can we have other objectives than capture zone ? Pretty Pleaaaase ?

(BomBaKlaK) #92

Just played Wolf ET all night and definitely DB maps need a lot of work, and real objectives …

(Glottis-3D) #93

i think we need to get SD team to make one ‘play with us friday’ a ET-day and another ETQW-day.

(RasteRayzeR) #94

I believe we’d better let them work so the next patch comes sooner ? lol

(Glottis-3D) #95

or, are you afraid, that the awesomeness of ET/ETQW will make them so frustrated about current DB???

(RasteRayzeR) #96

You know, most of them spent more time creating and testing and playing these games than us. The frustration is already there imo

just to keep things in one place

I wonder if London is an too big obstacle for maps .
What if Level guys would do some blockouts (Big and geometricly different as they want) without no London consideration and references at all.
Than Art guys (when all good) Filled the map with London stuff like ,if this would help doing awesome maps

rookie, read your sig

Lots of possibilities in London, although it would be nice to have different areas of the world.
