Stat tracking in-game

If, you wanna show someone’s contribution to the team, displaying the xp earned should be enough.

Hahaha, yeah as long as you’re not using stats as some sort of public ego booster then I have little issue with them. We are in agreement. Lets have a beer.

The reference was in relation to K/D, which was in realtion to tarcking stats, the consensus being one of the stats which affects how people tend to play.

the comment was if you’d only killed 5 guys in 10 minutes you probably need to kill more. Tokamak’s point was if that guy had rezzed twice as many guys as anyone else then he’s doing his job better than anyone else regardless of how many kills he has.

Hopefully they’ll take both deaths and K/D of the final screen and just make it private. ETQW method is perfect, just list the guy with the highest kills. Add to that access to your own details provatly and everyone gets to see how they are doing so they can improve without feeling like they need to play conservativly.

Its even more important to be able to kill the enemy, when you pose yourself as a revive threat.
All the enemy needs to do is kill you and gib you first. And suddenly your influence on the game diminishes. Since you dont have the aim to fight back, you will always leave your team with a man down.

If you’re in a game where you dont have the aiming capacity, yet you can make 50 revives a match. Chances are - you’re playing people who are of the same skill level in aim. Does that really matter in a pub game where your goal is just to have fun? No, it doesnt matter. You just simply do what you know you can do, and that is fine

BUT if you play competitively where your goal is to win and to win convincingly, players will exploit a players inability to aim to the fullest. The harsh reality is - any weakness, whether its the inability to aim, or the inability to support teammates via class actions will be exposed.

So no, reviving doesn’t compensate

Honestly I think there are 2 good approaches to stat tracking in all games. Either it isn’t present at all/isnt public, or there should be a bigger more comprehensive overview, son you can see how someone plays. accuracy, wins, k/d, score, score per minute, objectives completed etc. the worst thing is just having k/d be the focus of the stats.

The problem with the latter is that many people won’t look beyond a single stat or accept that even taking many stats into account won’t necessarily paint an accurate picture of a player. IMO better detailed stats be kept private to the player and more generalised stats (either team for end of match or middle 80% for global averages) are presented for comparison.
