Starting Errors

Im well confused, and i cant seem to search for the right cominations of words to get an answer. I must have read a million forums all about not getting into limbo for noob mappers. Which isnt what i want.

Ive made a few box maps now, and decided to make a map based on BoBs. I found EasyGen and created a nice looking landscape. I had tried using the addon gensurf thing b4 i got the new GTK - didnt look as good, but it worked fine.

1> Then suddenly i can only get into my homemade maps straight from the title page - i have to start up a host of some map i already have, and once in i can /devmap my map.

2> With just the map i have a landscape in it wont load up at all from anywhere. I think its to do with the shader and alphamap file. If my map is in etmain/maps where does the .shader file need to be? and where does the alphamap need to be? The folder for my textures has to be in etmain/textures/map_name/ right? is it same with /scripts?

3> Sometimes i play on different mods. And it wont find my map (even if i restart ET) - do i have to change something? Is there like a command to change the directry im in? or the mod im using?

2.) If you have created you landscape in Easygen you should export the “terrain entity”.
Your shaderfile then is in “/etmain/scripts” and the alphamap is in “/etmain”.
And the map-file is in “/etmain/maps”

Add the shader-file to the “/etmain/scripts/shaderlist.txt”.
You should edit the shader-file:
At the end of this file is a base shader.
Cut this shader and insert it at the start of the shader-file.

Not sure why you are not able to start the map.
Do you have an “info_player_deathmatch”-entity?
