Stargate map ideas

Before this thread starts I have to state something, I am absolutely rubbish at mapping. Please don’t point me to tutorials because I have tried them and I know I am no good at mapping

Now on with the thread. I am a big fan of Stargate, yet I find there is only one map on ET for it (which is totally unbalanced.) So I came up with a idea for a Stargate map. Now I understand if you cant make it because you want to make your own unique creations, yet I appeal to some mapper to make this map.

On to my ideas

Before game message
Gould have infested axis troops. Then penetrated the Stargate taking control of the Stargate and the command room.

Objective
Allies
Close the iris
Recapture the Base room

Axis
Hold the Stargate
Hold the command room

Axis spawn in a large room on the other side of the Stargate
The large room has ammo boxes and health crates.

To seal the Stargate up you need to capture the command room and press the button that then closes the doors to the Stargate room and locks the glass of the command room up (see Stargate episode that they open a wormhole onto a star) after that nothing can shoot from the Stargate room into the command room.
Then you need to go down the hidden stairwell open the door and have an engineer close up the Stargate

There is no outside compound fighting in this. It is all in the Stargate complex. The allies spawn at the far side of the base (inside) so the Axis aren’t totally overwhelmed before they go though the Stargate.

imo maps for ET should stick with the ww2 theme…

Yeh I know I am even getting BF for it (and for the star wars mods.) Yet I like to see stargate everywhere :P.
Thore you do know that there are alot of maps that are not on the ww2 theme. Then again how do you define ww2 theme, my idea has the allies and the axis. If you are talking about setting then look at maps like Helms Deep. To the best of my knowlage helms deep wasnt realy in ww2 :P.

All the stargate fans :P. What better to atract them to a free game than stargate map on a free game :P. I could ask you the same about the LOTR maps. Who else is it going to please, LOTR fans :P.

I suppose it depends to a certain degree on the quality of the map too - a crap stargate map isn’t going to bring any stargate fans to ET (look at the stargate map that does exist for ET :)).

If it’s a good map, then people will play it regardless. If it’s a good themed map, then it has ‘an angle’ to make it more popular and stand out, which is never a bad thing from the creator’s point of view.
