Standard Mode - What's the Point?

(nephandys) #1

I play on 360. At one point Standard was returned to its original format that was basically big teams and big teams was removed. Now Big Teams is back, Standard has returned to a cap of 8 humans 8 bots, Old Skool is gone, Adv and Comp still there. Anyway my point is what is the point of having Standard and Big Teams? The whole reason the modifications to Standard were introduced was due to the lag at launch that has largely been resolved. At this point Standard and Big Teams are only serving to split the player base (as has been pointed out about the various modes before).

Last night is the first night I played Big Teams or its equivalent and was unable to get full games at all. Just remove Big Teams and make that Standard. Have Standard, Comp, Adv. Done.

I think something that should be added to the list of “simple fixes” would be a “search all” function in the MP menu that covers all maps and game modes.

Even better would be a checklist menu where you select which game modes/maps in which you want to search for a game.

I was wondering why I haven’t been getting full games in standard. :o

Yeah, kind of a bummer they switched back to this. Lago and I played like 3-4 straight games and we only saw maybe 1-2 other people.

Yeah it just changed over in the last few days I think. Prior to that I would get entirely full Standard games and now it’s limited to only 8 live people again.

I still feel the Free Play should look like this:

Stopwatch (competitive mode 5v5 rules+stopwatch rules)
Standard Objective (8v8) up to 16 Humans
Advanced Objective (8v8 VOIP+Friendly Fire+Any Rank)
Campaign Normal, Hard, Versus

Done

I’d like to just split it into this:

Stopwatch: 5v5, no bots, friendly fire on, command post buffs on, spectating on, VOIP, any rank

Standard: 8v8 with bots, friendly fire off, command post buffs on, spectating on, VOIP, rank restricted

But a match browser would be ideal. A “Search All” function would work okay.

Standard mode is there to peeve you off when the AI wins on overtime.

(I swear they become 100 percent smarter and more accurate and your teammates become shooting targets when it hits 1 minute)

Yeah thats absolutely true, they always do the same thing. Fight super far from the action at the command posts and wait till its the last minute. Then they all rush together and somehow, the defending bots become tools while attacking ones become death machines.

Did I just rehash what you said? Oops. I’m pretty baked mate

I agree, last week (or a bit longer ago) when the Standard Game Mode was back to Default I had major fun. It was so easy to find full sessions and there was little lag. Also the Ready-Up worked like it should with 1/2 players needed and everyone could switch weapons and just start.

I just found out yesterday that they switched it again, I was wondering why the game had suddenly died again. Turns out most people were playing Big Teams again.

I think they should mention it on the Notifications panel if a server variable has been altered or updated. This way people would know the details, and we’d see that the game is still being worked on too.
