[Stability] AllocRenderModel Crash

(Leo.) #41
Once the patch was applied my game started working perfectly. Some pre-first day patch issues I guess? Anyway, thanks for making an amazing game splash damage. Now that I can run it, its great.

I bet logging into steam before playing prompted Sind’s copy to update to the latest version, which fixed the issue.

Anyone else who is having this issue: Apply the patch!
can u please send me the patch or anything? I tried everything and this crash is like hell…10 min and then nothing pleae help…:frowning:

Having the very same trouble here.

http://www.splashdamage.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=1493&stc=1&d=1305544280

Attachment with crashlog from brink server window, allocrendermodel log, and crash MDUMP,all in one nice and clean zip.

A note that seems to follow this crash.Whenever the game is at its peak in useage of RAM it seems to do that.Even a small use of PC’s RAM seems to do that.At least whenever I turn off every single other process other then steam, it seems to occur alot less,or not occur at all.

(Greer) #43

Bump, since this issue is still at large.

(Sind) #44

Yep, and I demand a sticky!!

(Sind) #45

Bump!! Splash, no offence…but you don’t know how much people have this problem… (Views 1709)…
They are just a bit lazy to register…

(Skeggi) #46

SplashDamage, seriously what is this? How we can play? Don’t be like in other games, which have died, because of inactive developers, there should be someone who can just tell us to do!

I keep crashing every 5th minute… HELP!

(Greer) #47

Bump, as I keep getting these aswell.
Hi Sind, thanks for posting.

Can you confirm if you can reproduce the crash via the following steps, please:

[ol]
[li]Boot Brink via Steam
[/li][li]On the main menu, enter the Campaign menu
[/li][li]Set visibility to Solo
[/li][li]Press Start Mission
[/li][li]Play through the mission until you complete it
[/li][/ol]

If you or anyone else can reproduce this issue at any point during those steps (playing a match in Solo), I’d like you to provide the following information so we can track this down:

[ol]
[li]Go into your Steam Library, and right-click on Brink
[/li][li]Click ‘Properties’
[/li][li]Click ‘Set launch options…’
[/li][li]Paste the following: +set logFileName “console_AllocRenderModel_$Y.$M.$D_$h.$m.$s.log” +set logfile 1
[/li][li]Run Brink from Steam and attempt to produce the crash
[/li][li]If you produce the crash, retrieve the logfile:
[/li]
[li]Go to …\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata#steamid#\22350\local\base
[/li][li]Find the file called console_AllocRenderModel_xxxx.log
[/li][li]
[/li][/ol]
[li]See if the crash also produced a minidump (MDMP) file
[/li][ol]
[li]Go to …\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\brink
[/li][li]Look for the most recently created MDMP file
[/li][/ol]
[li]Post a link to the files here, or if you don’t have a way to host the files, send me a Private Message and I’ll give you an email address to send them to
[/li]

man I can’t find brink in steam can u please explain me in steps how u installed ?

(jayare) #49

Bump, I’m getting this **** too. :<

(Crispy) #50

Just to update you, we no longer need any more logfiles or crash minidumps for this issue. I’m unable to confirm anything else at this time.

[Edit 7th June] The above comment was made on the 17th May and is out of date. We are currently collecting further data on this crash produced with new code that we added into the game in a recent patch.

Nice way to say “STFU we are working/we don’t know what to do”

(Greer) #52

Can a dev. team member actually give us a response thats remotely, you know, understandeable?Since what Crispy said is more like “Oh god this may be more of errors because of our bullcrap with requirements” or “More single core users…**** them” or “**** we dont know what causes that or we know but don’t want to fix it” as from what I saw development team does not want to cover single core CPU’s at all,and this error is seems to be single core CPU problem,at least somewhat.
So,can we have a response that isnt something you can warp around like you want and is not really telling us anything?

(TroubleGirl) #53

I got same problem. I set launch log values and hope for soon patching…

I’ll try to play without steam chat on now. As Otto, I get a feeling it has something to do with steam chat too, because I played the other day and had no crashes at all. All crashes I got today happened while playing challenge mode, I had chat opened here and there. But crash did not happen when I used Tab+Shift for chat. Crash always happens while playing only. In first 5min of solo challenge.

I’ll upload logs once the crash performs again.

EDIT: Crash persons with steam chat offline as well, so it’s not chat, I guess.

Upgrading Nvidia drivers may fix it.

I had this same issue specifically on the Aquarium map as security in single player. I didn’t have any crashes before the most recent patch. This crash was repeatable and happened 3 times in a row about 5 minutes into the match.

I have a GeForce GTX 260 and my drivers were from January 2010. I generally don’t like upgrading drivers if I don’t really need to because I’ve had a lot of problems arise from new drivers. Today I upgraded my Nvidia drivers to the latest ones and was able to play through the entire campaign without a crash.

I’ll do some more playing later today just to see if I can make it crash again, but it seems like upgrading your drivers may be the answer. Hope it helps.

EDIT: After playing for a few more hours I encountered the same crash but this time on container city. The driver update seemed to just make it less frequent. Oh well.

(Greer) #55

This is an error with multithreading support in Brink, most likely faulty extension to IDTech4.
Also,bump.
This is an error with multithreading support in Brink, most likely faulty extension to IDTech4.
Also,bump.
Your assertion is incorrect. It’s a fairly complex issue that we are continuing to investigate internally.

(dede) #57

thanks splash damage for making me waste 50 euros

(marian6) #58

What the hell are you talking about?
Also, bump. We still need an actual adequate answer from developers about this.
