I think you’re missing the point about everyones objections to the SS tag.

Being that this game is set in WWII using SS as a clan tag will, rightly or wrongly, implicate that the SS being refered to is the element of the German army at the time called the SS (of which the aformentioned “Waffen” and “Lebensraum” divisions had special notoriety).

Even if the SS being used stands for “Shite Shots”, “Special Soliders” or whatever it still has connotations that SS abbreviation being used somehow condones or glorifies the actions of the German SS. As my Czech grandmother’s 3 brothers were shipped off never to be seen again by the SS, and her older sister raped; I think you can understand why some people may still find the glorification of the SS name in any way, offensive.

I’ve never heard of those Lebensraum-divisions … AFAIK there were no such divisions, although it was a central subject in their ideology ?

I had not heard of Labensraum either but I did know about the Waffen division, so when evilsock mentioned the two together I thought that Labensraum was also a division - now I’ve checked and you’re right Eisenvater

I apologize if anybody finds SS offensive. We in no way glorify the acts or policies of the SS, Nazis, Labensraum or Waffen, or any other group assosiated with them. We hate them just as much as anybody else - my great grandmother and grandfather were also taken to concentration camps by the SS and were never seen again.

Well the reason why we picked our name is because as our clan was expanding and we were recruiting players we had to pick a name for our clan. We had two names that we thought of a long time ago and it was a debate over Silent Assassins or Stealth Soldiers. At that time everyone picked Stealth Soldiers. So we gave ourselves the tags <SS>. And we where not even thinking about the Nazis and Waffen insignia and how it might effect the public at the time. We were and are not trying to be offensive in any way.

Also I am from Poland, and one of the biggest Concentration camps was close to my house and my Grandparents which where captured by the SS “Nazis” where taken to Auschwitz (the biggest camp in Europe) and where put to work for 3 years. Then they took my Grandparents and lined them up and shot them with SMG and tortured them with Fire! So if anyone who complains they hate them well I hate them 50 times more then any of you!

you know I really like this game because it’s like the only fun and relatively new game I can play on my crap computer…but then I always get reminded that half the palyers that play the game are really immature, now don’t get me wrong, I am the last person to talk about maturity because I am somewhat of a clown but if people would just for one second shut up and think before they post, this thread would be dead after 5 posts…

first off, whoever judged monkeyfarts’ maturity by his nickname is, well, an idiot, there simply is no word to describe how narrow minded you are. plus you should use proper grammar, it should be “If your name WAS” not “were”, can’t even flame right can you?

and that SS crap, wtf, WW2 was over 50 years ago, if they want to be called Stealth Soldiers -> SS -> let it be, only those who are quick to bind that to the SS that existed during World war 2 are the ones that need to shut up.

If this was UT, Splinter Cell, Pokemon Online or any other non WW2 game nobody would probably care but this is a WW2 based game and therefore the SS has a very different meaning!

Think about the svastika, it’s an acient sympol of luck with a deep religious background, surely nobody could find it offensive, right? Now put this svastika in a WW2 related game… what do you think, does it still has the same meaning ?

O God wtf Lennyballa how old are you man? try to read its “I am from Poland “,” I live in Washington” that’s why there is this “,” after Poland. So in a simpler way (I was Born in Poland but know I Live in Washington, USA). Plus I would like to thank Clawda for saving me the trouble of writing what I was going to write anyways. Also I agree with all the recent posts today. If you have a problem with SS Nazis then why do you play WW2 based games? Also do keep in mind its only a game! and they are clan names. And as I said before we are in no way trying to recopy Nazis or there Insignia and we are not trying to offend anyone by choosing theses tags.

Also Lennyballa I never said I was from England, and I never played with you on any server. Also not to offend you or anything but go study Geography, because as far as I know you don’t know anything about Europe.

the only reason swastikas arent in the game, is because it can be downloaded/played in germany and they have these laws prohibiting it.

Thats why they were in SP, but not MP rtcw, germany had its own version of single player.

if there wasent that law, they would probably be in.
