Square things up

You know when you take your car to the shop for a tune up, then when you get home you find out they brake something; You take it back to fix what they didn’t do right, But not only did they fix what they messed up but they also throw in a free extra like upgrading the part they broke. Its good for public relations and repeat business, a way of saying sorry.

Before I get to my point, I would like to state, I like the core of what the game is suppose to be.

Brink made many promises, most of them never came threw. I’m not going to list all of them, but some that come to mind are, “amazing bot ai” “tearing down the walls between single player and multi-player” “in-depth story” “massively customizable charters and weapons” etc. Even taking such statements with a grain of salt, it really feels like it falls short in these regards considering this is not a cheap game at $50 or more depending on your region you had to buy it in.

The bugs that many players have to deal with are quite numerous, and depending on some peoples very expensive hardware, completely unplayable as of yet. Since it’s software these users can’t get a refund as if buying a broken hard drive and returning it and that seems unfair.

My Idea, give something back to the public, something like “hey sorry we made some mistakes, here’s some DLC or something.”

Don’t label me a TF2 fan boy when i say this, the highest price TF2 ever had was $20, and has roughly the same amount of content back when it first launched and even more now. And as I recall far fewer and smaller bugs.

You are right, SD should have just focused their campaign on what this game really is. An enemy territory game. Instead, all they talked about was seamless single player/multiplayer, the ark and bots. All of this is a very small part of the game.
I for one got this game for multiplayer and multiplayer only. Don’t care about the ark, don’t care about seamless bla bla single player whatever, and don’t care about bots.

They should have promoted this game as a multiplayer game that happens to have a story, instead every interview I heard was something like (the ark is this massive floating city)…

I completely agree. We all knew SD would produce a stellar MP title with their track record, the promises of seamless integration and wonderful AI and depth of story etc… were what really made their game seem like a work of art as opposed to simply a potentially really good online experience.

With the promises made we were previewed what was apparently a fully fleshed, well-rounded work of art. What we’ve got is (basing this on feedback as I’ve not played it yet) is a very niche but solid MP game that needs work technically, and a weak almost tagged on SP mode with crappy AI.

The game has a lot of promise, sure, but since promises have already been broken I can see why people are losing hope…
