I don’t know about anyone else but it would be nice to be able to sprint by double tapping forward. I think this was possible in brink?
Sprint
Sprint is intuitively on the shift key for me, I think a lot of people are the same. I may want to double tap W to edge close to a position for a trick jump or something.
I guess my rational is if you are standing still it takes more time to move forward then press shift than just double tapping forward. It also means you have to hold multiple buttons just to sprint.
I personally have a habit of holding my sprint key, even in games that don’t use shift. Sometimes I even unbind it if it does anything other than sprint
I’m a shift-key guy myself, even as I’m typing this, my little finger tends to go to the shift-key. I guess that’s what years of RtCW and ET does to a person.
Anyway, if people like the double-tap-W feature so much, why not propose it as an alternative to the shift-key?
I was shift keyer myself for many RtCW years until the demands of tricking caused me to move it to mouse4. Personally I think it’s best to keep sprint as a separate bind, it’d just be annoying having to double tap forward to trigger it, especially in the heat of battle.
You can hit 2 keys at the same time (or hold the sprint key early in anticipation).
That is inherently faster than hitting 1 key twice.
But if it’s a popular feature then I wouldn’t be against having it as an option that I never need to turn on. Is it worth the dev time implementing that feature though? how many people actually like double tapping to sprint?
I personally never understood games that had double tapping to sprint. Is it to avoid stress on the pinky?
Speaking stress on the pinky, the sprint button to hold breath while scoping makes no sense if you want to crouch at the same time. Those two actions need different buttons.
pinky - shift
index finger - C
middle finger - W or D
ring finger - A
Works for me. (but ye I can agree it’s nicer for some people to have scoping on the mouse or another button)
haha, here comes my crouch on mouse2 in handy, finally
this is to you, mouse2-crouch haterz!
Mouse2 = Sprint
Space = Crouch
Shift = Jump
:eek:
More on-topic I’d prefer it if we could shoot and reload while sprinting.
Madness - everyone knows mouse 2 should be reserved for jumping!
The more I play the more I want a sprint bar with with no restrictions or penalties for it’s use. Sprinting and firing, sprinting and reloading, no cooldown period before you can perform an action after stopping, no warm up to get going etc. Sprinting can be such an interesting game mechanic - it seems a shame to use it in such a limited way.
