Sprint and Shoot

Generally I feel sprint is an action which forces the player to make a choice over fight or flight. Those decisions provide a tactical layer over pure aiming which I believe to be a good thing for long term depth.[/QUOTE]

What do you think of sprinting in more directions?

(spookify) #42

Im just going to unbind sprint… This gun not shooting thing is driving me nutz!

(MrEd) #43

undecided

(Bangtastic) #44

in addition to mr ed’s post

sprinting plus shooting makes no sense because if it was intended the normal run speed would be simply higher and a sprint button/function would be completely obsolete.

Example: What would you choose? shooting + runspeed slow or + runspeed slowfaster or + runspeed hyper lightspeed fast

Why do you bother with optional gameplay mechanics if one of them is obligatory to succeed!!!

I prefer fight while in flight  Talking about a concept slowing down gameplay

I just remember how much more actions/options it took me in that one game “nobody knows” to fight: keycombos for me: move left, crouch, shoot while crouch, after a split second standup again, sprint move right to go out of fireline for a split second (like neo ;)), crouch again, shoot while crouch, stand up, stand still for split second, shoot, move right, etc. So i crouch, stand, sprint and shoot, and i am also able to use my environment, because my character is very responsive and it doesn’t take ages to take cover again; and i have various ways to incorporate sprint, you can mix it up intelligently whenever you want (notice the decision level), but it requires stamina bars, and those are silly

DB in contrast? Well, i am still trying to find out. Not to be overly negative though, i just want to state that if you put that concept of splitting movement and firefights in place, that it might not be so much fun. Because ultimately it will result in a much slower firefight. It just doesn’T blend that well imo.

    QFT

Do it!

(acQu) #47

Just make it like W:ET

(Patriotqube) #48

Yes Please

Feels weird. In W:ET and QW movement used to be a skill.

Movement used to give those games some extra depth, but with DB it’s gone.

I hope that SD will find somekind of replacement. And I’m looking forward to the tier system, maybe that will give the game some extra depth.

I think the same.

Yep, that’s one of the most important points for me at the moment, but will be difficult without strafing.

Lance Armstrong agreed aswell

I think the same for stamina and sprint + fire, but maybe we could test sprint + reload, see if it works in this game, maybe this will help you decide.

(BomBaKlaK) #53

Sprint + reload is needed for test.
all the others propositions don’t have much sense to me but why not try

(spookify) #54

Are there another button combinations like crouch or moments that would cancel out shooting in DB?

Also does anyone have problems with Nades not cooking and as soon as you click it throws?

Whatever I am pressing is cancelling my fire…

(woll3) #55

Sprint + reload has been removed quite a while ago, i dont remember the reason for it, but imo its just one little thing that slows the gameplay so much down because you reload quite frequently with the high rof.

They have a key for quick grenades, I would probably throw up if I didn’t have a weapon bank for grenades that I could hold in my hand. I was originally a arrow key player and switched to wasd for DB and I don’t understand how people prime nades while holding G. It’s impossible to strafe to the right. =P

(Hundopercent) #57

Agreed. Same with throwing grenades and specials.

(Hundopercent) #58

RtCW did it better.

(spookify) #59

I use ESDF and have nades bound to 4… but cant cook them… As soon as I click mouse1 it throws. I might need a new G500…

Not nearly as silly as sprinting for a minute at a time through dead map space, just saying the silliness difference is minimal. Why does sprint even exist, what does unlimited sprint do for the game besides speed up travel time (when you could just shrink map distances) and let people escape from someone shooting at them? I’d like to see a test, just as I am willing to test all the “silly” unlock ideas. Sprint shoot and stamina is just another means of empowering the player.
