Spread the Word, Make the Game Known

(H0RSE) #21

I always hear console players say that controllers are more comfortable, the buttons are all easy to access, and it feels more ‘natural’ as ways that controllers are ‘better.’ I also hear, “It depends what your good at,” in response to who would beat who in a match…this is usually where I use my unicycle vs car analogy.

I have made references to handicapped people in the ETQW community forums, where skill comes from what tool is used, so this means that a player can be skilled at both K/M and gamepad. If a gamepad player gets to the same level as a PC player, then as I said before, it takes more skill to get there. This is assuming there is no help within the game. (H0RSE) #23

This is only true to an extent, as some people can naturally use a controller no problem. And it doesn’t take more “skill” to use a controller, it just has a higher learning curve. Just like games with high learning curves, they don’t require more ‘skill’ to play, they just require more practice and getting used to - ‘skill’ has nothing to do with it.

And even if a player was a god with a controller, it doesn’t mean he would destroy every M/KB player, that is just ridiculous.

(BeyondSpectrality) #24

This thread is about getting Brink out into the world and how we can achieve that and yet here we are scaring a potential player away with rabble about K/M vs Gamepad. Who the hell cares what we think? Neither side is going to win, so let’s just be happy that there’s another person who likes and wants to support Splash Damage and Brink.

Ways you can do this are Post it on your Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, Blog, Website, E-mail, XBox Live, PSN, or even just tell your friends. And remember to do it every couple of months until the game is released ;O

I’m just going to let the PR department do what they get paid for.

(badman) #26

Guys, please save the (inevitably endless) mouse/kb vs controller debate for another forum. We won’t settle it here.

(SebaSOFT) #27

badman, does SD intend to check on release schedule for BRINK compared to other game hits? I mean both Bethesda’s games and others. ETQW became occluded big time with the release of CoD4. It appeared like a non-AAA title release (advertising-wise).

(DoubleDigit) #28

I don’t think Bethesda has anything remotely similar to this so no competition from them to worry about. And even if it had and kept all the MW2 and Halo kids off this game, it would be great.

(SebaSOFT) #29

What about other game distributors? What make you feel you won’t have to worry about yet another battlefield franchise game just to put a foot on BRINK’s head?

you mean online services, competing with Steam now ?
Impulse ? EA online ? MS Live ?
and other [every]developers-made[or nearly-finished]?

The story of my life… jk. I’ve gotten a lot of hype with people I know. Fans can help to an extent but the main thing about this game is the SMART system. If anything can sell a million copies in the first day (I’m hopeful), it’ll be that.

I mean, you have to look the entire game scene whenever you relese, if you release a game ±2 weeks of a Call of Duty game, your game is occluded no matter what publisher you have…

i think a demo would be appropriate,
offcourse they can also give some players an inside look, like me.
yet i would only reach a handfull of people.

for the console market to reach the target audience and plausible holding it attention, is in my opinion by releasing a demo on xboxlive or ps3 just before release.
mouth to mouth can have impact, yet i dont expect this to happen overnight.

(LyndonL) #34

A demo of a game like this I would find to be impractical. The engine, textures, sounds etc for just ONE level would be so large that it would not be downloaded by many due to its size.

(brbrbr) #35

oh.
gimee “Brink ambasador” [online]badge then !!
yes, “i can. cannon”.

(abrain) #36

Aaa-title Shooters that are coming out this fall/end 2010 are:
-CoD.
-Medal of honor.
-ghost recon future soldier.

And maybe a new Gears of war(xbox only) and killzone 3(ps3 only).

I think that the top 3 are the one`s bethesda must keep an eye on!

(Slade05) #37

-ghost recon future soldier
Aaa-title Shooter

Something does not compute here.
