The Phoenix Update v49563 - 09/09/2015
First Impressions:

Game feels a lot smoother.

Phoenix with the KEK-10 is amazing. Phoenix feels like all other medic should feel especially Sparks…

The ability to insta heal gives him the ability to get to a downed body and stay alive.

I do notice he does run out of ammo very fast do you cant just sit and camp with him and also his heal is really only good for once every 2 fire fights.

The Self Revive is nice and really only useful if you are downed from a far range or your team pushed up around you and pushes the enemy back.

All in All Phoenix reminds me of the good ole ET days and is extremely fun to play. Like I said before he is how the medic roll should be played and feel.

I also noticed some hud cleaning and less broken images. Nice work.

I have a read only CFG for my “G” weapons inspection does not work. Oh well haha… No Biggie…

In game Reporting seems awesome!!! I personally havent used it yet but I have heard other people have

If indeed private matches can not start until 6 people that should be changed ASAP. I would think 1 person and putz around in a server make strats and whatnot. If not one then 2 minimum.

AimPunch Feels GREAT!!!

Not a real big fan of the way cases are with the perks attached so gratz on adding more types of cases but they are basically useless. I got my two Bronze Phoenix cards I want and thats really all I need.

Maybe it was due to low player count or something with the servers but my hit register felt great as soon as the Update went live.

Hope this brings back some players and I might hope in some ranked MM later!

New Game Play!!! YES!! Finally Teamwork and Sustained Spawn Pushes!!

***Phoenix ROCKS!!! I hope this merc brings back the Hardcore RTCW and ET players and really make them like this game again. The play style is just great. I also hope that new players find Phoenix a joy to play and maybe SD will see this is how a medic should be; which is slightly OP on the self heal which gives him the ability to better him his team either by getting to them or healing them all while keeping himself alive to help them on a sustained push for 2 or more spawns. That is what DB is missing and phoenix makes this glaring medic offensive weakness apparent. The basic ability to push as a team on offense and break a crossfire is now in the game!!! This merc will now open the door for better team work teams to make a push. No more of this run in and die, run in and die and then hopefully catch the defense at a bad spawn. Im very excited to see what the next cup looks like!

As I said in another thread the private server limitation probably boils down to SD and Nexon not wanting potentially thousands of private servers spun up that could severely impact performance. I too would love it if you could do 1-2 people but I also see it from the fact that the servers are a resources that is finite. I’d wager the requirement will be lowered in time or hopefully just give us a proper offline.

Also, I agree with your assessment on Phoenix and he pretty much fits with my rather hopeful predictions from previous threads. He’s fun and definitely even more of a livelord than Sawbonez…which is impressive. And yes, having a Kek on a medic is awesome even though I think the Crotzni (c41) might become the meta standard.

I doubt he will shake up the sawbones meta that much. I’d much rather prefer to throw a healthpack down to start my cooldown and have anyone pick it up if needed. Sawbones can sustain a push just fine.

Phoenix cooldowns are just too much and good players know to finish you off. Honestly, the crotzni is highly inaccurate now (I actually prefer the bishlock. Always had). It’s a bummer that there are so many shared weapons, since that could be a decent way to balance individual mercs to make them stand apart more.

I’ll give him more of a go but not sure what the hype was all about. I’ll have to play against one too.

I think he will be able to replace the second medic

It is a decent patch, for once. SD didnt randomly nerf spread on some guns, didnt had any new “fantastic” ideas so we could say that im happy about the update.

As for phoenix, i find him weak to be honest or rather his heal to be weak.

It have long cast time, if you cancel the ability it wont heal you and it goes into cooldown, you cant cancel the animation after using it, it have long cd, its impossible to use his selfrevive against decent players (you couldnt pull this off before revive changes, so its even worse now).

I find him fun to play but as it stands he will be situational flavor merc at most and only used im comp when you wont be able to use 2 sawbones. I guess kek lovers are kinda happy with a medic that can use it, but i never could understand the hype around it (if anything i see bushwhacker turret to be a problem in comp matches, not kek).

the game feels more laggy than before, but i am enjoying phoenix, hes balanced pretty well., not in my top 5 but comes in the 6/7th spot .

Phoenix is incredible. You can press 4 to equip the pulse and longjump towards your allies while charging it, similar to revives. His weapon selection is great (even though the Crotzini is inaccurate as hell now), and I can finally stop being infuriated by missing my packs when I play Sawbonez. Definitely a solid offensive merc.

He also gets a ton of Support XP every match. I routinely get over 4k in an average length match.

The Crotzni…inaccurate? The “nerf” last patch was pretty much a paper nerf and barely affected the gun.

(watsyurdeal) #9

I have to agree with Amerika to an extent, I feel like the SMG 9 is a tad better at longer ranges, while the Crotzni kills way faster up close due to it’s higher fire rate.

They need to remove the get up animation from the self-revive, or at least make it so that it doesn’t count as a self-revive activation until after the animation. It’s extremely frustrating to get gibbed during the animation and have a minute cooldown.

I have a bad feeling about the tandem Phoenix-Nader (reminds me to Aura-Rhino :stuck_out_tongue: )

For me, Sawbones is the best medic, by far.

Unlike the paddles, you can long jump and sprint while charging the Healing Pulse.
