Here we go!

We have Nader! Or at least some of use do because I am not playing $9.99 for an imaginary person on a video game. I might pay $4.99… Maybe… Any who it will take me another 2 weeks of grinding to unlock her probably… Or I might just wait for the next merc…

Before I get into so of the patch things I would like to say I had both the most fun playing DB this Patch and the least fun. I pubbed a 7v7 SW on two maps and attackers could not get very far into the map if even at all… The first map was WC and I did join a little late but the EV had already made the corner toward the church. As it approached the church and about to head down the slight hill we were then held for 10+ minutes. In that 10 to 11 minute period I got 91 kills and still the EV didnt move. The Spam was so great. The second map was train and we were full held first stage 7v7 SW again. This time they had 4 Bush Turrets and some other random classes… All this above paragraph is a vent because I am not sure if my team was really bad or something else.

Good Game! Once you actually do get into a 5v5 Ranked MM game it is amazing!! There is semi team work, less spam and more tactics. The game feels 1,000 times better this way.

Media
I think from a marketing aspect this should be looked at. You have these media events and STREAMS where you plug people into a 8v8 Objective server! I can not stand that spam… Spice it up on the streams and have Anti or Toomic or some of the better SD members Que into MM (Pug we set up for the stream) or go into a 6v6 SW server and maybe talk tactics and strats to give the game depth. I think I brought this up before for your media event and Fluffy was going to look into it. (Internet Speed or availability was the issue I think)

Recap of the above:
I would be careful with Pubs. A random person just getting the game and heading into a 8v8 Objective server is going to get blown up (literally). Some people when they start out simple just like to run around and you can not do that with these small maps. I still like my idea HERE

Example:
SW Beginner (Collisions and FF “OFF”) (6v6 and 7v7 SW)
&
SW Advanced (Collisions and FF “ON”) (5v5 and 6v6 SW)

In ET and RTCW people knew which servers to pub in. They knew those servers had the better players in them.Post Here

Maybe when you Pub Que it asked Beginner or Advanced? Its just one extra click…

To The Patch:

Added “Join Server” to Steam friend context menu

  • This is super awesome!!
    I would also like to see Auto-Join in the first menu rather then clicking “Info” and then Auto-Join… Side Note: I do like that if you join off a Friend it auto puts you there if the server is full!

Continued performance optimization pass on Bridge, Trainyard

  • Like many people said why are you optimizing Bridge? and for that matter Train To! Waaaa!!???

Added additional INI file clamps to prevent users from changing their texture LoDs below acceptable level

  • Very Nice! I actually played High Settings Default and had no problems with the game. Some frame loss here and there but nothing to make me yell. Game looks really good.

Updated first person firing audio for the KEK-10 SMG to match the firing rate

  • Awesome. Fells Good
  • Did you also Update Arty?

Arty:
Arty feels a lot better but there is just something about his gun that makes him unusable for me. I used to be able to rip headshots with him but now it seems and feels like I can hardly find the head, even on a large fragger. I was getting rolled by fraggers in a few pub servers… It was not a good feeling.
Point:
#1) IS recoil reset is to long IMO for both Arty and Fragger. The one shot taps a distance should be looked at. If someone is AFK in a spawn it should like take mind blowing concentration to kill that guy. It should be over quick.
#2) Artys Hip Fire - Did I just have a bad day or when you strafe side to side with arty is his max spread extremely fast? I think the ROF is perfect but something is up… Smooth Idea’s?

Back to the Update:

Updated many augments to bring them closer together in terms of effectiveness

  • All of these Changes are great but there should be 100 more or Super Perks. I have a Great Posthere n those.

Marginal increased the spread penalty when jumping to discourage bunny hopping in combat

  • Very Nice
  • In The Stream Yesterday Anti talked about what was in the pipe line but I will not repeat. Excited for it!

K-121 Machine Gun

  • The Damage isnt really missed actually!
  • The Reduced Magazine is for sure noticed!
  • Along with the Magazine the reload time is also noticed!
  • Spread 7% you would think I would be QQ’ing but I am not. If you know how to shot his gun this really doesnt have that big on an effect. Overall good “Nurf” to fragger. Can’t believe said that!!!
    Side Note: for the people talking about nades I personally think they are fine. Get out of the pubs and try some 5v5 SW Matches… I am more surprised that people are talking more about 4 turrets in a pub or some other issues that are crazy.

I can not comment on the Sniper Sway because I really havent tested it.


All in All

I think this was a very good patch. It sets the ground rules for the next patch which I am personally excited for.

I could rant on about cards and maps but this post is just for this update. Plus SD has heard those rants one hundred times. Nice work SD keep plugging along!

Also quite happy with this patch, especially the changes to deployables. The healing station seems to be in a good spot now.

PLEASE MAKE FRIENDLY FIRE A HIGH PRIORITY, WE REALLY NEED THIS !!! :stuck_out_tongue:

Isn’t there a ‘levels 1-6 only’ obj server or 2 for new players? It seems to be locked down as well as I couldn’t join it ;).

Agree with most of the above though. I blew my hard-ground 50k creds to unlock nader (was saving up for bush but he’s on rotation for now so I have all the mercs :D).

The most frustrating thing now is lack of teamplay on one team due to bad team balancing between rounds (///<seealso http://forums.warchest.com/showthread.php/43473-Stacking />. The game is really great when you have two evenly matched teams who stick together in the true ‘ET’ spirit, unfortunately 90% of the time neither team does or one team does and steamrolls. Let’s hope somethng will be done about that soon :). Some more suggestions / observations around match joining etc.:
a) Display the current map time left in the browser list. Will prevent joining matches that are about to finish (as happens quite a lot!)
b) As well as ‘level 1-6’ servers have some ‘level 7+ servers’ or ‘level 7-12’ servers, though Level isn’t the magic skill number by any means.
c) Currently most servers are listed as X-1 / X (e.g. 13/14) meaning you usually end up joining a losing defending team due to the fact that the extra player gets put on attack when teams are currently even. Its more rare to actually get X / X.
d) Weirdness around the Join buttons in the lobby and changing teams mid match. I often find the Join button is enabled letting you make teams uneven, and then the reverse is true.
e) If you were specced in the previous match you are stuck in the lobby unable to join either team.
f) A lot of the time you cannot go spec mid-match. You can bring up the switch team menu but clicking on spectate does nothing.
g) If a match starts 6-4 (also happens a fair amount) auto-force a rebalance during warmup and prevent match starting. Can’t really do much if a player ragequits half way through :).

Nader spam - not too bad tbh, her abilities are nerfed a lot from previously. The martyrdom is kind of useless now as gibbing seems to cancel it. Fragger still seems a bit OP but maybe not quite as much but as was argued elsewhere killin’ is his only role. Aura’s station is still an issue but is a bit easier to destroy + the slight delay to the healing starting is a much needed change. Bushwhacker is very nice to be able to play again, esp. with the reflex-sighted AR.

Only thing I could think of would be to widen the player base and them implementy and ranking system with MMR built on spm, kdr, and win ratio. With these factors it will more than likley put those who win “AKA work as a team” all in one match and make them more even instead of having a 15 minute spawn camp.
