Split screen online support

(andor) #21

I’d at least want offline splitscreen

Splitscreen is a dying breed. I never liked it and I never will. Cutting the screen in half so 2 people can play? Really?! If you have to cut up the screen so more than 1 person can play on the same tv, the game was never meant to be played by more than 1 person on 1 screen. It’s actually sacrificing aspects of the game, just so you can play with a friend on the same TV…I hate splitscreen. If you want to play with more than one person, do system link or setup as LAN.The only “splitscreen” games I enjoy playing, are one where you share the screen as a whole, without cutting it up. I would rather games put their resources elsewhere when developing games.

I voted yes, just because of the enjoyment i’ve had at my brothers house playing Halo 3 or Gears of War etc. splitscreen. So much better than watching someone else play and you can’t do anything. I think those who play splitscreen are under no illusions of the costs, view sacrifice etc. and tbh, no offence… but the ‘get another console and TV’ suggestions are just plain silly. It works, and it works well. Ive had multi-xbox 8 player splitscreen game-a-thons with 2 consoles and 4 players per TV and it was still fun for all.

It’s really not that silly. Maybe years a go, when TV’s were big and bulky, but now, getting multiple TV’s and xbox’s together is easily accomplished, epically when most people nowadays have a TV and PC in their room, and most PC monitors have component inputs on them.

Choosing the splitscreen option from within the game is easier than getting 2 TV’s and 2 consoles together, one of the many reasons consoles support more than 1 controller…

votes yes. mainly because i know a lot of my mates (with xbox) tend to buy games with where the splitscreen option is there. it’s so fun to play when you’re a bunch of muppets having a gaming night at home.

so if possible to develop such a feature then sure thing. but i’m guessing that’s a rather time consuming thing

The game is out, but I want to point out one point of view.
So me and my friend have just filled 18 years last year and i myself have two accounts at my xbox for both of us.
He can’t afford even his own xbox because he only has his mother and they don’t have that much money so both of us play at my xbox. So what should we do then in case like this?
(we do not cheat on games at all, we hate cheap cheaters)

give him one of your characters
it makes sense, but doesn’t at the same time…
[note this comes from a pc gamer]
example:
I have my own Xbox tag: WhiteAden
I go over to my friend’s place, who happens to have Brink too, he logs into his account (PlayerXXXYZ)
we go to online play, he’s logged in… how are you thinking this will work? will I be able to play as my own character (which’s linked to my tag) or will I play as a lvl 1 conscript/private “PlayerXXXYZ_guest”…? every time I play…?

I don’t know how Halo works, but there’re no unlockable weapons etc. right? if there are, how does the guest system work? does the guest have access to the ‘host’ his weapons?

I think that’d be the issue… how would it work…?

care to elaborate on how you’re thinking this would work?
OK considering you are a PC player you would not know this :

1: he is talking about a friend who does not have an xbox or an account join in. It adds to the fun instead of switching places every game ( xbox socialy more acceptable then PC gaming so this happens regulary)

2: to answer your question live players have the ablity to transfer thier live account to other xbox’s. It takes about 10 mins to do. The problem I see and I agree with you is that all the info is saved on your hard drive so that would create issues. Halo didnt have this issue as there was not alot of things that needed to be unlocked. So yes I would belive the “guest would access the hosts weapons”

To be honest I dont think this would work too well unless it was implemted in a manner that would allow the other live player to have access to his weapons. I hope that answered your question.
