Thanks to Vaporman for putting in the effort to get some additional questions answered.
Splash Damage Q & A: Answers To 8 Questions
I assume they have exclusivity contracts with media, possibly PAX was already setup as news time, doesn’t hurt to throw a fansite a bone that doesn’t interfere. Don’t read too much into it
Will the radar always be on and showing enemies or is it earned or activated?
If you can see an enemy on screen, he will appear on your radar.
…
Also, if you can hear the enemy moving or firing, he will appear on your radar, even if neither you nor your teammates know his location. However, if the enemy puts a silencer on his weapon, then his position won’t be given away by gunfire, and if he has the “Silent Running” ability, his footsteps won’t give him away either.
That’s how it really is, beeing able to see/hear somebody is something different than actually seeing/hearing him.
I find that kind of noobyfied allthough you can counter it with ability/atachement and the radar doesn’t seem to be very precise.
The question that remains is if the “Silent Running” only affects the radar or if it also silences your footsteps like the Ninja Perk in CoD: BO.
My point is some of the information we’d be interested in is unlikely to be digested or even shared with major blogs. Which is understandable as they want a clear, crisp message to flow out to the general public. Just poor form on the part of Bethesda IMO.
Yes, with a near degree of certainty. FPS characters are silent when walking anyway.
I’m pretty sure it works like the ninja perk in COD - Ed Stern mentions it in a podcast.
Wha-wha-wha-what!? Are you sure? That’s so gheeeyyy then! I’m very disappointed…
Unless it’s one of those pre-orders where there’s universal codes that everyone can just enter. I hope SD was smart enough to go for that :)
Ya they were GS is selling “DOOM” Package if you pre order the game http://www.gamestop.com/pc/games/brink/75114#bonusFeatures:eek:
And what can we take from this? Never ask easy and irrelevant questions.
Yep, if they are only going to answer a few cherry pick them and send in the ones that the most people care about (plus, since it’s your list, throw in a couple you really care about too
What about it? Or do you want to go into a light jog?
I believe, based on other currently popular FPS games that I am not allowed to mention specifically, that when you are inputting movement (pressing on the control stick or pressing the movement key) you go no faster than a walk. When you hit the sprint/SMART button, you will go faster than a walk, though you do not have to hold the SMART key down the whole time.
Not that I believe that Brink has walk/run/sprint, I liked this mechanic but because I guess you won’t be really fast in Brink when not sprinting (or beeing a Light) it wouldn’t really work well.
Linsolv has posted his analysis of the answersto the Q & A questions. Check it out.
True… but if you never asked irrelevant questions, you’d never get an answer back, period.
What is with you and the ego accusations? The guy gave his opinions on the Q+A, big deal. Do you realize the way you talk to people?
Sometimes Nail just likes to throw a few dirty socks in and do his best Maytag impression.
“I’m going to judge Richard Ham and Splash Damage for the answers they provided.”
not the way I would phrase an “opinion”
I’m with Nail. Reading those comments made me feel a mixture of being ashamed and wanting to punch Linsolv over the Internet.
