Splash Damage please stop making me use certain merc for credits

(SaulWolfden) #21

The simple solution would to only buy mercs you’re almost certain you’d like, which means outside of defaults and free rotation mercs, you would mainly get merc missions for mercs you like. The only merc I own that I don’t like using is Aura (because Sawbonez is more my style) so I almost always have gotten missions for using mercs I like.

Do 3 mission in an hour.
Constantly.

I don’t understand.[/quote]
You say doing 3 missions an hour and you get more credits whan just playing an hour. So I said: “Do 3 missions per hour. Constantly”

Verbatim repeating to someone who wrote “I don’t understand” - really?

Are you trying to say (badly) that you can play for the remaining 2 hours before new missions arrive? I so, allow me to present some napkin math:

Average income from missions is about 2000 (bigger missions are more rare).
You can get about 55 minutes of match time per hour. That’s 3x55x12=1980.
How is that more? Ignoring missions will give you AT BEST a 3-to-1 reduction in earned credits per hour. Only if you only sleep and play DB then you can break even.

(L3thalGho5t) #24

Really guys?? you have to wait for the 3 hr timer to be up to get new missions.

(Fleshpound) #25

Getting 10k per day is not much for playing hardcore or being super no-life for that game.

I sometimes like to do 10k which means that i do additional missions or just 3 missions+daily(which comes for me always as 5k reward :I)

Well, one of the main reasons why the devs shouldn’t give out missions for specific classes is it’s bad for their own business. People would be screwing themselves over by buying classes that they’re on the fence about, because the chance they’ll be stuck getting missions for them is pretty high.

For players it’s best to keep the pool of bought mercs as small as possible, so you’ll at least know you’ll enjoy the missions on them. So these missions actually work counterproductive if you want to sell more mercs.

Forcing people to play different roles is already covered by the different XP types, keep the missions at that, for the sake of Splash Damage’s and Nexon’s bankroll, if not for the player’s enjoyment.

Actually,if they wouldn’t force then you wouldn’t see most of the mercs in-game but just 6 skyhammers etc.

(stealthyCaper) #28

You can’t get missions for mercs that you don’t own, so no…

Did you have read??

You can get one,if they are in free rotation.

And i said for example 6 skyhammers. Skyhammer is free.

Yup, because people that only play the free classes and the ones in free rotation are the ones you should market your game to…

(Leoroids) #31

I don’t see the issue because you don’t even have to play them you just need them in your squad

(Edzer) #32

I personally don’t really mind the specific merc missions, I usually only use one merc during an entire match anyway. This means that there are always two filler slots for me per match. Knowing that I’ve gotten all the mercs xept for Rhino I can just pretty much always play what I feel like.

I guess when you start off this could be an issue when you do not have a lot of mercs and the game forces you to play one out of the F2P rotation. But honestly it is not that big of a deal.

(Aazhyd) #33

That never happens. You always get a mission for a merc you have or one that is in rotation.

(Edzer) #34

That’s what I meant. One out of the F2P rotation = one in the rotation.

(Aazhyd) #35

No idea what you mean, then.

But it’s enough if the merc is in your squad. You don’t actually have to play it. I usually have 1 main merc and 1 backup. The 3rd slot isn’t very necessary anyway, imho.

(Edzer) #36

What I mean is that if you do not have any mercs unlocked and the game gives you a mission with a F2P merc, only then you are forced to play the merc chosen by RNG. So I can imagine that people who just started playing the game feel that way, even though it isn’t once you have more mercs unlocked.

(MTLMortis) #37

You do not have to play the merc for the mission, only have him in your loadout. I always have Aura and Bushwhacker in my loadout. Third slot is Nader unless I have a merc mission, in which case she gets rotated out. If I get Proxy she takes Bushy’s place.

Again, you just need them in your squad, you don’t need to actually play them.

I tend to do that but it seems a bit silly, the mission becomes not ‘Get X amount of xp with Y merc’ but instead ‘Get X amount of xp with only two mercs’.

(L3thalGho5t) #39

Here is why i hate it.

I always want arty in my squad cause he is my favorite.
2nd merc is always one of the free rotation merc to try them out.
3rd is Nader incase the game is not going well or they have a good Rhino.

what happens is i drop Nader to use the merc the mission requries then I end up in a position where i need her and it ticks me off because instead i have Arura. (i always get her for missions)

(PurpleNurple) #40

Why don’t you just drop the person you use in free rotation instead of nader then? Your logic makes absolutely no sense and it feels like you have no actual argument other than you don’t want to play a merc you don’t like. Which btw you don’t even have to. If the mission said “play this merc” I’d understand where you’re coming from, but literally you can put them in your squad for at most 3 objective matches then do whatever you want for the rest of the 2 hours.

The missions are fine as is. I get a little irritated by the “play a competitive match” mission, but I just X it out and wait for a new one. I have every merc and don’t mind getting a mission for someone I don’t enjoy because of the fact I can play someone I want to while the merc sits on the bench or just screw around on them. If it wasn’t for these missions I never would have realized Kira is bae and fits my playstyle perfectly which is the reason why SD put these missions in the game. Get good at every merc and learn their weaknesses and strengths so then you can exploit them on a char you favor the most. If you want to change the way missions are done you’re gonna have to come up with more of an argument than “I don’t like it”.
