A new story entry has been added:
[drupal=738]Splash Damage invading GDC 2011[/drupal]

GDC 2011 is drawing near and we’ll be sending a few people out there to spread the game development gospel. If you’re headed to GDC this year, keep an eye out for these:

[ul]
[li]First up is a talk titled Punching Above Your Weight: Small Art Teams, Big Games, which will have our Lead Character Artist Tim ‘spacemonkey’ Appleby and Technical Artist Paul ‘Mop’ Greveson detailing the processes used to realise Brink’s characters and the extensive customisation system. [/li]> [li]Elsewhere, Audio Director Chris ‘peaceful_warrior’ Sweetman will be part of a panel called Four Guns West, which is all about weapon audio design in modern first person shooters. [/li]> [li]And for the level designers among you, Lead Designer Neil ‘Exedore’ Alphonso is set to be part of a tutorial on the matter, titled Level Design in a Day: Best Practices from the Best in the Business. [/li]> [/ul]
GDC 2011 kicks off on 28 February at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. For more information, check out the GDC website. We hope to see you out there!

They have posted their powerpoints in the past…

Great topics. Great presentations, I am sure. Looking forward to seeing/reading/hearing whatever you can share from those presentations after the event is over.

Go get 'em, SD!

Thanks for that…just reviewed them. Too bad they don’t have the audio to download with it. Perhaps SD can post a vid or the GDC could possible launch a live stream the presentations later this month. I think they would be surprised how many people would log in to view them (both peers within the industry and fans alike).

Also, SD is not listed as one of the “exhibitors” so if there is any game playing, perhaps Bethesda will have a couple consoles/pcs for those in attendance to get some time in with the game.

GDC makes a few of its talks available for viewing every year, but to view all of them you have to pay a significant amount of money or attend the conference itself. This is a possibility for Tim and MoP’s talk as well as Chris’, but it’s far less likely for mine because it’s a tutorial rather than a full session.

(system) #9

Hope you guys promote the hell out of the game, Battlefield 3 will be officially unveiled there too.
Good luck.

(Slade05) #10

DICE has no balls, any Battlefield game is horrible, go kill them all MoP lol.

(Schwarzeis) #11

So we will get new information and footage of BRINK? :>

(Wraith) #12

Good luck SD. I look forward to seeing the results. Vids are always appreciated.

(system) #13

True, until BC2 and rush mode. Hell, who doesn’t like vehicle warfare?

(Crytiqal) #14

please, dont say something like BRINK is set on the ARK which is a contemperary green vision floating city, that it blurs the lines between single player, co-op and multiplayer and you have SMART which stands for Smooth Movement Across Random Terrain, or I am going to shoot somebody :frowning:

(X-Frame) #15

Lmao. Deja Vu.

Cheers, Fluffy!

On the one hand, you want people to understand what you are selling. You also want them to remember what you are telling them : to have your jingle running through their head wherever they are. On the other hand, you want to keep things fresh. It is a catch 22. :penguin:

The timing is hilarious though because my eldest son had just repeated that same line a couple of nights before it came up in this thread! I couldn’t believe how he could go on and on about the Ark - all familiar phrases. LOL indeed!
