Spectators taking up a slot

Would it be possible for there to be a way that the servers can be made so the spectators don’t take up a slot or something along those lines?

The devs mentioned that they were working on that actually. Partly so it makes it easier for casters and refs to spectate a league/tournament match. But it would help a bit as well for on regular servers to make sure things stay even.

I would like to be able to join a game again and not being forced to wait for my luck when someone leaves or leave the game myself.
