Spectator Mode

As for me the Spectator could stand a few changes. :slight_smile:

First once it is very irritating to be packed immediately into a certain team. I’m aware that it’s not nice if on a full server people hang in Spec and block the slots. Nevertheless, one should be able to have a look first. :o

I do not know whether this is only with me in such a way, but if I change to Spectator, I can’t rejoin any team afterwards. Maybe this works via console, in Limbo it doesn’t. :confused:

If one moves with the camera, “up” does not function, as for example “down”, “left” and “right” do. :frowning:

And in the end the most important. We need an In-Eyes-Spectator badly. One must be able to leftclick through players on a public server. Picking a player by clicking on his model should also work anytime. And If, in addition, this would also work by clicking the desired playername in the scores-tab, this would be simply fantastic. :cool:

Would also be nice if jump could move up, crouch could move down and sprint could move faster.

If you mouse click (right mouse I believe) right now you should go into 1st person spectate.

As for improving it yes, we need to do it, what we have now is just placeholder. I wrote a giant design for how this should work last week, it was many pages long! :slight_smile:

Having all the death ghosts gently fade out after a couple of seconds would be very neat for spectators as well.

And ofc you’re right, it’s working by now already (“Nextweapon”). Unfortunately I unbound that one.

Is it possible to have some slots dedicated to spec like for a TV server ? but by default setting with maybe 4 or 6 more slots only for spec. We have this settings on our shootmania server and it works perfect.
cause usually if you have 16 slots on your server, spectators unbalance the game, the only way is to kick them to make the slot free.

Quite like this idea. Would it drastically impact network performance to have 4 default spectator slots on top of the 16 player slots? Such a thing would also allow admins to reserve such slots so they can join a server even if it’s full of players.

Server 20 slots : 16 Slots for players / 4 spectators dedicated slots
This settings can be perfect

For me it’s a really interesting feature ! so if that’s possible I want some ! :wink:

so you would pay a GSP for 4 slots that you can only use for specs?

yes ! for sure if we got some advantage with this system
