SPECTATE Ranked matches

I think there should be an option to spectate ranked matches, similar to dota2, sorted by skill.
It’s really an essential feature for competitive gaming if you ask me.

  • New players can spectate, learn the game and see “how it should be played”
  • Average players can improve by watching
  • High skilled players feel good cause famous xD

What do you think?

The lack of freecam, selecting WHO you want to view, etc.

Re: twitch and the annoying personalities, music, buffering, etc. It doesn’t compare to dotas spectate.

Yes!

The thing is you can’t join lobby/server when It’s full, They should add the option to join as spectator when the lobby/server is full just like the Auto-Join option.

New players can benefit from this option as they can join as spec even when the server is full and watch good players and learn, also good to make videos and help catch suspected cheaters.

Add the option to join as spectator when the lobby/server is full!!!

You need to implement something like UTV to make this work (essentially the game is being relayed to one or more servers that can handle hundreds of spectators). Shouldn’t be too hard, but it’s a big project especially with adding the required UI and all. I bet it will come eventually.

I think without this feature DB can never become an “esport”.

In the stream yesterday they said the players need to start it, but in fact they’re the ones who need to start this. Give the tools, the players will come.

Nah, it’s a bit of both. Competitive gamers are resourceful, and we’ve had eSports long before such tools even existed. We get it started, and they’ll support it by gradually adding more tools to the mix. There is only so much you can do instantly though, everything takes time.
