Special loadout skins only for those, who pay for them?

(Jostabeere) #21

Then don’t speak for everyone if YOU don’t care and YOU THINK it’s worthless crap. You can say what you want. Facts speaking for itself.
Besides that:
people would pay more to pick augments
Yeah. People pay a lot real money for Bronzes.

(Nail) #22

I never said I spoke for any one but me, you really need some comprehension skills, and I don’t THINK they’re worthless, I KNOW they’re worthless, big difference

(The_True_mo) #23

Meh if someone wants to buy them i see nothing wrong with offering them.

(Jostabeere) #24

CSGO, LoL and Dota2. 3 very big games that show your knowledge is wrong.

(SnakekillerX) #25

If we are talking about smart, then people shouldn’t buy or play video games at all. I’m sure we all better things we could be doing. This is about what people would pay for and what would help the developer in the long run.

I probably won’t buy any of the skins, but I’m 100% positive some others will, and in the end that’s money in the pocket for SD which means they can help fund further development of the game.

I’m all for it so long as they make them look nice and don’t do any drastic model changing to go with the new card.

(hawkeyeguy99) #27

I probably wouldn’t buy skins directly, I like having some work put into getting my weapon skins. I just in general would like more variety in the available skins.

(Press E) #28

I’d rather they didn’t offer pay-only skins. I have spent money in this game and I definitely don’t mind doing so for SD, but I think part of what attracts new players is that pretty much everything, with the exception of a couple trinkets, can be obtained in other ways than buying it.
Adding exclusive skins just makes this game look less unique imo.

There are better ways to make money, like… cough-buyable weapon kits-cough-cough

(BananaSlug) #29

i think nail is just trying to trigger you guys but eeh, who cares

(TeuFort) #30

From what it seems, skins seem to be the padding of most FPS games but to paint in broader strokes, cosmetic items and skins have been in Dirty Bomb but timed. The Trinkets from the Christmas update, crossovers like with Humble Bundle, from the ReV update Skull-Splitter (Which I’m still rockin in game) and last but definitively not least the Founders Pack.

I for one, would be very interested in cosmetic packs and would happily buy them to support development and obviously, if it just looked nice enough. Especially more Brink flavored designs.

emo arty when?

(Mc1412013) #31

Id only consider paying for a skin if it altered the mercs in a similar way the founders cards do.

(grandioseStew) #32

Older and wise ppl yes

(KUST__LunarTM) #33

Valve makes a lot of money from TF2 hats and CS:GO skins even though they don’t impact core gameplay in the slightest aside from counting kills. DB could possibly do the same thing to help bring in more income to get this game finished, but including a skin system would mean a rework to the loadout system since skins are currently tied to loadout cards.

(Nail) #34

I’d look to card/loadouts to be changing
Finally… The card/loadout system… WHAT DID YOU DO :frowning: I HAVE NO WORDS :S AND I ALWAYS HAVE WORDS!
A big error, but we’re trying our hardest to learn from several mistakes that happened with this.

I share Beryl’s opinion. I’ve spent 1000+ hours on this game. Dirty Bomb made me play games again, I love this game and there is no decent way to give money to SD. I’ll consider the offer during next Christmas though, but I would definitely pay for a modified skin (like the Founders ones, that Sawbones <3).
I dont see how it would be bad for NEXON\SD. I don’t see how it would be bad for players.
On a side note, you don’t really need augments to shine on Dirty Bomb and can top frag with a default loadout.

The full face-mask phoenix, the emo arty, there’s a bunch of cool skin ideas already in the works, or at least they’ve been through a design phase. I’m certain the community would smash up a competition to make up some cool unique skins and have the rest of the community vote on their favourites. The community gets a cool event, SD gets some free ideas, it’s a win win situation.

Applying the skins to the character and making them the default would be the most reasonable way to do it, and then you could apply the color scheme from your preferred loadout cards. I’ve already suggested this once before, as I am sure many others have, I guess SD just don’t want some easy money. Hell, they’d sell a lot more of these than the current overpriced cases.

(bontsa) #38

It’s not that they wouldn’t be listening (trust me on this one in this specific subject, crafting / skins), but rather they need to make so largely varying changes, or at least take such into consideration, that they will take their time with it, and thus don’t really say much else about it other than hoping us to keep expressing what we feel is fitting and what is lacking in current system.

Which is much better than rolling up yet another Crafting-gate, dontzya think? I don’t think they’re in position to sustain another badly received rework like that, so better get it right. I will start getting loud again whenever they begin getting more into crafting changes once more.

Bottomline is whatever they come up with affects their income from the title. Which most probably means they are not the only ones who have a word about the system (see Nexon as publisher), thus perhaps aren’t allowed to make decisions alone. I don’t think either side are “evil” here deliberately not listening, it’s just not the right time yet to make these changes and neither company has exactly best experience in monetization systems. One has barely any past with them and other has cash-grabby stigma (for some titles it’s earned one, for some not).

Please no. It was mostly on topic even if it got heated, people should be able to take and deliver some banter every now and then.

Also congratz HoBo for your “promotion”, soldier :sunglasses:

cheeky bants outside tots awsum chickn innit

If there was a sensible, attractive and not P2W route for me to support SD for their fantastic creation, I’d happily put some money in it. If that happened to be some different skins then I’d totally go for that if the price was right, being able to personalise your characters is what gives a lot of F2P games flavour.

I don’t believe this route exists at the moment, I have all the mercs and I am not interested in buying elite cases or weapon kits really, I have most of the loadouts I want and these all feed back into the spanking machine that is the loadout system. I mean think of it this way, people were quite happy to buy the humble bundle for those extra skins, and that was what, $12? There’s an appetite for this sort of thing for sure.

I think they might somehow need to make cobalt more enticing though, if they introduced some cool permanent premium skins they could end up being more favoured.
