speakers cut out - whisky tango foxtrot?

Using the new speaker script system, I have created three speakers for a special event in my map. The three speakers play the same sound at different (but close) locations, with 2 seconds between each. The problem is, they start playing but cut-out about 1 second into the sample. I think they cut out as soon as the next one kicks in.

I have checked and double checked, and the speakers are not being triggered off again, so they should play the whole sample. I thought it might be the “digital clipping” mentioned in the LDR, but it’s not that because their volume is 127 and the sample itself could easily be tripled in volume before exceeding safe range limits.

So does anyone have an idea why they don’t work? Is it because they attempt to play the same sample, does this have something to do with it?

Okay, so I’m obviously the only one suffering from this :frowning:

lol hmmm coming from a known mapper - make sure in your script you have
speaker_plugged_in = 1

:clap: lol

what are these speakers though? is it like in mml church where the organ plays?

I’m not using regular target_speakers, I’m using the new speaker script system in ET, the idea being that these speakers don’t affect the entity count of a map but can only be triggered via scripting.

The actual effect I’m going for is bomb drops. Three bomb drop whistle sounds in short succession to each other :confused: But instead of going phweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee… they go phwee-.

Test it by creating 3 different sample names and triggering it via the script. BTW how are you triggering the sounds?

Okay, it works fine if I use 3 differently named sound samples. I tried triggering the speakersa using both togglespeaker and enablespeaker. Both seem to work fine wioth 3 samples. With one sample, togglespeaker caused the problem above. Enablespeaker with one sample doesn’t play anything.

So yeah…works with 3 identical but differently named copies, but I want it to work with one sample. This must be possible surely. Or was the ability to play the same sample 3 times “overlooked” during development?
