Speaker Editor Help

(Stektr33) #1

I’m trying to add an ambient nopvs sound of a whistling wind on my mountainous map. I’ve created a speaker (using the Speaker Editor) per LDR, but it doesn’t seem to be working.

Here’s the screenshot of my speaker.

No scripts are associated since I’ve set a wait/random time to it.

I wonder, is it the format of my wav file. I took it from an mp3 and converted it using Sound Forge. Here are the properties of the wav file:

Thanks.

Do other speakers work? Have you opened the property’s of the files that work with it? Maybe you can compare them and find diffrence…

I only have one in my map.
I’ll compare my sound file to the ones in pak0.pk3

If your sound isn’t triggered on, you need to have the looped ‘yes’

I got it to work. I comopared it with the other wav files, those were set to mono while mine was stereo. I changed mine to mono and now it works.

I didn’t have to script it to trigger it since I set the wait and random time.
I set mine to wait 25000 and random 2000 (since my wav file is 25 sec long, which I’ll probably trim down at a later date)

Per the LDR:

wait
Sets the time in milliseconds after which the speaker is played again. The looped flag must be set to no. Speakers with a wait time can’t be triggered from a script.

random
Sets the span in milliseconds by how much a wait time is randomised, e.g. setting wait to 10000 and random to 2000 will repeat the sound every 8 to 12 seconds.

Lenny, I’m not sure by what you think typing C:/Format is going to do in DOS…

(lennyballa) #9

as i told in another treat, i made this expressly so people won’t really format ok??

(evillair) #10

My bad, I forgot about ‘wait’. Glad you got it to work.
