spawnpoints with flag problem

(damocles) #1

This one has me completely perplexed. Basically, I have 3 spawn areas, which you can think of as the start, middle and end spawn areas. The allies have their initial autospawn set to the first area, and the axis set to the middle area. The allies then take the middle area, setting their autospawn to the middle and the axis autospawn to the end spawn.

I have the flag set up, it’s got it’s spawnpoint flag checked and it targets EVERY spawnpoint in the map. I basically want all the spawns to toggle - this is because each side has two spawn areas, one starts on and one starts off.

I also have the team-wolf-checkpoints setup with descriptions etc. When the allies take the flag, the allied spawn works perfectly, they then move to the middle spawn. The problem is, the axis don’t move to the end spawn. On the command map for the axis, the central flag disappears and only the rear spawn is selectable. I’ve set the autospawn to the rear spawn but still they spawn in the middle. I made sure the wolf_checkpoints are alerted by the script so they toggle (and they seem to according to the command map)

The central axis spawnpoints are all targetted by the flag so in theory they should turn off, but for some reason the axis still spawn there.

I’ve followed the tutorials/info in the sticky thread, and it seems like I’m doing everything as expected, but for some reason the Axis always spawn in the centre, even when I turn the spawnponts off! Anyone have any idea what might be causing this?

have you tried setstating the middle spawn points invisible when the flag changes?

I’ve just tried setting the spawn points to invisible when spawning and no go :frowning:

edit: I have it working, but not entirely how I would like. I wanted the rear spawn to only become available when the allies take the middle flag. However, by making the rear spawn always available to the axis, it works. Weird.

Im confused… your flag entity should only target the spawns at the flag… dont use it to target all of them in the map.

You can also have in your death string for your axis spawns at flag something to set autospawn to the rear spawns… I have a flag in my map but axis never spawn there… however it could easily be done… I could make you a prefabbed spawn flag that has a death so that once the allies perform whatever function to secure that spawn it will be removed all together for axis and they will be forced to spawn back…

If that is what you are wanting with also the ability for axis to cap the flag and spawn at it let me know and I will make something up for you.

Thanks for the offer, but that’s not what I was aiming for. I wanted the flag to be recapturable by the axis (think old city flag in oasis). The reason I made the flag target all the spawns was to ensure the players would only have one spawn to choose from, instead of 2. It doesn’t really matter though - it works now to a reasonable fashion. There are much bigger bugs to fry

ok, what I was refering to works just like the spawn in oasis…
