Sparks's Loadouts

(JJMAJR) #1

I don’t really think of Sparks’s loadouts as well balanced compared to a medic like Phoenix.
Sparks doesn’t really have combat strength, which makes things like Unshakeable and Focus really weak on her.

On top of that, Focus was nerfed back in, what? Before it just increased accuracy while aiming down sights. Now it’s only useful with snipers and nothing else.

And on top of that in order to have the other loadouts for Sparks be viable they needed to nerf the MP9 until it gets pushed into the role of “bad in combat but gives best augments”, which only exacerbates the problem.

I think that this needs to be fixed.

One idea I had (it’s a pretty bad one) could be found in the spoiler below.
(Insert name here.)
Allies affected by your support ability also get an augment buff, depending on which augments you have. Lasts 10 seconds. (Doesn’t grant augment buffs that affect support abilities or grant additional instances of augments they already have. Additional healing from sources aside from a health station remove this status effect.)

For example…

181 Gunslinger Agent
(Augment)
Potent Packs
Quick Draw

When another player picks up these med packs, they get a Quick Draw buff.

371 Fireborn Agent
(Augment)
Guardian Angel
Unshakeable

Players that pick up these med packs are able to survive a scratch from an explodydendron airstrike. (That augment needs another change, like “20% less delay to explosive abilities” instead of what it is right now.)
It’s far from the only possible idea for this character.
I mean, sure Sparks might not need a buff, but a lot of her loadouts aren’t really up to par.

i agree about losing focus, but unshakeable to me is the Nr. 1 perk on any merc, especially below 110 hp. you can argue that it doesnt help against direct hits from stickies (and maybe nader eggs as well), but it really helps a lot.

although a counter to that is that to get instahit she needs to be in the front line which isnt her role.

(JJMAJR) #3

Because of the degree that Sparks cannot participate in combat she almost never benefits off of Unshakeable unless she’s just plain incompetent.

(aminuseternal) #4

Holy crap someone else finally realized her loadouts are crap!
:open_mouth:
Anyways, unshakeable is literally useless on sparks, trust me when I say it really doesnt help. At all. Maybe in lower level play, but not when you are playing against people who actually know how to use explosives. It is just a waste of an augment that could be used on something better.

Guardian angel would be nice since its hard to track arty strikes or airstrikes when you are playing any fast character really.

The second gen 181 is actually what I would say is the best loadout for her right now, quick charge + quick draw is an amazing combo, plus you can swap to medpacks faster.

I know I have talked about this in probably every other sparks thread, but she needs things like flying pig, and springy back, an holy crap if you are good with the bat and you take the first edition 343 you can really do some damage. Point is though, all of her loadouts are really just shoddy ripoffs of the 383 now and no one wants to try to play her any other way for the most part.
gotta go fast tornado agent is still amazing
tolen and mp500 is better imo, less spread more damage, batter as finisher

(GatoCommodore) #6

somehow i lost my appetite for using MP9 after the Xth time of nerf.

(JJMAJR) #7

I know.
Hate to go off-topic here, but what is the Tolen and Simeon based off of? I know the MP400 and the Empire-9’s base, as well as all the light pistols, but not those two…

I’d really like to take a look at the real thing.
MP5Kar./MP5K

The part in front of the magazine is different for the fact that the handle isn’t there, and there’s this protective casing on the in-game model that looks like it would conflict with the model below.

its called vertical grip for more precision shooting (Hochfir has it) and yes you can replace them and put something else in it.

everything else is the same spot with real world counterparts.

here’s a better picture

Still don’t know what the Simeon is though.

Actually, to be precise the Tolen is based from MP5K, but with rails similar to that MP5K from Modern Warfare 2, minus the grip and the front sight. You can see the similarities here:

It’s understandable though, since Ben Garnell (the modeller) also works at Infinity Ward, as mentioned in his Artstation portfolio

i like the Black Ops MP5K tho.

My Solid Sausage is Diamond hard now.

This is funny because the Hochfir is also based off of the MP5k, but it plays completely differently to the Tolen. Giggles at the thought of cancer with Hochfir Sparks

Also am I’m the only one that thinks that Sparks is the only Merc that really deserves the Blishlok, considering that she’s ‘ranged’? (Aura, Phantom, Fletcher are all primarily close range…)

I like the idea of having characters that use secondaries as primaries.

I really don’t want the Blishlock on Sparks. It’s above and beyond what other machine pistols are able to do.

(Brycko) #18

Don’t get me wrong, I love having the Empire-9 as a Primary, and the Tolen can be alright. But I really want a replacement for the MP 400.

(JJMAJR) #19

The MP400 is amazing, why replace it?

If anything, the Empire-9 is trash.
