What exactly is Sparks xp…?

(blufflord) #2

It is when you are the only person to play that merc in the whole match, you instantly get best X xps. No idea why it’s there, should just get removed.

Awh, it’s a participation trophy!

Lol, when CMM first came out, there was some guy in one of my first matches who played one of the best Sparks I’ve ever seen. They accidentally switched to rhino at one point, but then switched back the next time they died.

CMM decided to ignore all of the important things they did as sparks and gave them an award instead for “200 rhino XP”

Who thought this was a good idea??

Imo the MVP lineup should only highlight:

  1. Top kills
  2. Best accuracy
  3. Top assists
  4. Best medic (support xp)
  5. Most objective focused (game mode xp)

Who can earn more than just one of those highlights is the true MVP. No need to praise and pretend someone did great by earning “merc” xp and got MVP.

Yeah but it wouldn’t be fair to the casuals, you know the people this game caters to.

Agreed. Are top kills and finishes separate or the same thing, though? I haven’t payed much attention to that and I do like seeing the ‘most finishes’ award on some players without the most overall kills. That’s such an underrated aspect to DB and it’s nice seeing some recognition for it. I can’t stand people that would rather run around like it’s deathmatch, only finishing their kills when the stars align.

@blufflord Only issue is that I was the other Sparks in the game and had a better score :stuck_out_tongue:

But did you revive someone by hand? That is how you get to be the best sparks ya know

I witnessed my team’s Sawbones trying to pick up a Phoenix at the bottom of the staircase on Terminal. He then tried to defib the Phoenix in the middle of his self revive animation. I could’ve cried from laughing. Only thing that would’ve made it better would be a nuclear pancake sitting at the top of the staircase for them after their struggles.

It’s not really that useful considering how different most mercs are though. Think about bad aura, she can get a massive amount of XP just by placing a med station in a good spot without really doing anything, but a sparks who constantly revives from anywhere should be the one to be featured. I mean, imagine a match where everyone had crap accuracy or no one really played a medic. These are public matches still, so I wouldn’t doubt that. I’d like to see it be more merc specific, rather than class specific.

Ammo given, airstrike kills, revives, etc. There’s nothing wrong with showing more than one stat for a featured player either.

(znuund) #12

True. A good support heals and revives, aura excels in healing more than in reviving, where sparks is great at reviving but cannot output as much healing as aura. It would be worth splitting these.
Also some “bad” rewards could also be given. most deaths or most suicides

(pumpkinmeerkat) #13

Sparks XP = REVIVR factor / coefficient of self heals

(Artyrim) #14

Sometimes the top 5 is just random without any pattern

Best Skyhamer as Proxy xD
Btw would be nice if we can take more than one place in top 5. You kill, heal, assist and other stuff then there is a guy in top 5 with few ammo given just because you take 1 place -__-

(bgyoshi) #15

Most Damage

Most Assists

Most Objective XP

Most Support XP

Most Revives

No point in highlighting kills, as they aren't always useful. So many kills are just someone luckily plinking the last 4 damage on a softened enemy. Most damage is better, since it includes damage to bodies, objectives, and deployables. That's what "Kills" are, damage.

If you insist on highlighting the bodyshot sniper in the back and his kills, then assists are great when your K/D is 3/17 because your kills kept getting swiped by a random bullet or explosive, and you have 45 assists. Otherwise, you'll probably have the most assists if you have the most damage, maybe.

Objective XP to showcase being actually useful

Support XP because healing isn't the only kind of support

Revives because being a 10/17 medic looks bad until you also have 30 revives

Well, now I have a hobby of collecting these.

(Drac0rion) #17

@bgyoshi

Most Damage - on EV maps would ALWAYS be Arty and would also get highlighted for Objective XP.
Most Revives - would ALWAYS be Sparks as long as she’s picked.
5vs5 or 6vs6 a team should always have 2 medics(in 6vs6 maybe even 3).

I would argue that kills are very important to this game, since they show who is able to either accomplish many solo kills or finish off enemies and set the enemies on spawn timer.
And this is why assists should also definitely get highlighted, to point out the person who was shooting everyone like a madman, but just didn’t manage to finish them off as wells the person with most kills.

Honestly the damage will not matter even if my team has double the total team damage over the enemy team. If we can’t score kills, we can’t deal with the objectives.
Damage without clear results, kills, are pointless.

Top finishes means you got the most xp by finishing downed enemies (enemies that can still be revived). No idea why it’s there though.

Sometimes this Best “insert merc name here” seems bugged or at least questionable…I mean for the whole match I played Fletcher…I repaired the EV…kept it up the whole match.

Another players played Fletcher and planted a single C4 to take down the ramp…and later switched out again…yet this player got best Fletcher
