Sparks OP ?
An entirely skill-based weapon is really good when used by highly skilled players? wooah no waay
I was trying to determine if the thread was useful information that might promote a discussion or just spam. Please make threads that have a purpose. If you believe something is overpowered and feel the need to make a thread at least talk about why you think that and what you think should be changed. That way a progressive discussion can take place rather than just a simple vote that explains nothing.
You provide a complaint with no thought for a solution and with no explanation of the problem.
But just a poll, I wanted to see people opinion via good ol’ voting, but I guess my curiosity is meaningless FeelsBadMan.jpeg …but I guess I’ll provide a real reason.reviving people without the fear of your death is OP to me. Other medics need to think if that res is worth it. Also she can snipe and makes the enemy team gib even if its inconvenient for them. No other medic has this mental edge. I can use a dead body to bait a medic but not with sparks, especially since reviving to full health takes less time than the others. That and she is too fooiinee looking for me to want to kill her
She’s overpowered when used by a good player. It was exactly the same case with vassili when he had the instagib.
Other.
As a combat merc she’s not amazing but is good at taking pot shots at ranged. She is not going to be a slayer on par with almost every other merc in the game in regards to killing potentially.
However, she will get some kills that only she could get. Which makes her useful in that regard and pretty annoying to some players.
As a healer on a non-FF server she is pretty terrible. But on FF servers she can kill revive back to full in almost no time and still have med packs.
As a reviver she is by far the best. It’s not even a contest. Ranged revives that will give most mercs max HP while being able to charge it from range allows you to do setups that aren’t viable with any other medic. That’s where she is really powerful. However, even with that, I don’t think she needs a nerf.
Being annoyed by a merc isn’t the same thing as that merc being overpowered.
My main concern with her is friendly fire. Sparks has the best revive tool that can also act as a makeshift sniper rifle, giving her both very good support and combat abilities. However this was supposed to come with a major flaw : because small medpacks heals so few, she would be the absolute worst to sustain the team. This makes Sparks a terrible choice as a first medic, but an extremely good pick if there’s already Aura or Sawbonez running around.
However, friendly fire allows her to ignore her main drawback. Someone’s needs healing ? She’ll just kill her friend with the REVIVR and revive him just after. If there wasn’t that one merc rule in competition you could easly expect Sawbonez to be replaced with a second Sparks at this point. FF just remove Spark’s main flaw and major balancing factor : this is the only thing that bother me a lot so far.
There could be a very simple fix for it : remove Friendly Fire for the REVIVR only. Like this, if Sparks wants to heal a low hp merc with the same process, she would have to switch to her primary first : it’ll be more time consuming. Sparks would keep the flaw she was supposed to have all along.
Point is that it becomes far too strong when wielded by the high skilled players, just like the MOA used to when it had the insta-gib function.
In Sparks’ case, she can strafe at full speed while maintaining perfect accuracy with her REVIV-R. Meanwhile actual snipers like Vassili and Redeye have to A) aim down sights, meaning that they can’t strafe as fast to avoid getting hit, B) cannot heal themselves immediately unlike Sparks, C) run out of ammo eventually unlike Sparks who never runs out, D) can only use motion sensors and smoke grenades to help their team while the Sparks can keep her entire team alive at the same time as sniping her opponents, E) are much larger targets than Sparks (her head hitbox is tiny), F) can’t run away from unwinnable engagements as fast as Sparks.
Basically the only things that Redeye and Vassili can do that Sparks can’t do BETTER is their abilities to throw motion sensors, smoke grenades and use IR goggles - their special abilities. But when you compare that Sparks’ special abilities to heal herself and others, and revive her entire team in a matter of milliseconds from miles away, and Redeye and Vassili’s abilities quickly pale in comparison.
(For the record, my suggestion to make Sparks more balanced is to decrease her hipfire accuracy with the REVIV-R and force her to use ADS if she wants to actually engage long ranged targets with it).
Imo, I feel like the only real issue I have is that she can heal herself, and let’s be honest, her health packs are arse to give to anyone else.
I think if we remove her packs, and allow the Revivr to heal allies when they’re hit, it could force the Revivr to be used more carefully in order to prevent overheating while you’re attacking, healing, and reviving, and prevent her from being able to run away and patch herself up when she’s too aggressive.
I think with that change and a health buff by 10 hp, she’d be perfect.
I’d like to correct this. As soon as you start charging the REVIVR you start walking slowly just like you do with any other weapon when you pull up your sights.
She’s just a bit too good at everything, and when a skilled player plays her, it ain’t funny.
Small nerfs and tweaks would fix her right up while still giving her a high skill ceiling.
I think she could lose a little damage on the revivr. Make it deal 59 body (118 head) damage on a full charge so she can’t one shot Arty, Nader, Skyhammer, Stoker, Fragger, Thunder, Redeye, or Thunder
I know alot of you are going to disagree with me on this but…
I feel like the revivr simply shouldn’t have a damage factor. As in it should only be used for reviving.
Giving it damage makes it very powerful as she can revive and do damage at the same time without becoming vulnerable…
I mean all the medics: Sawbonez, Aura, and Phoenix lose speed and become weaponless when they try to revive someone. But Sparks simply does not…
I just feel she’s way to powerful with that gun…
I think she is perfectly fine as she is. I only ever encountered a few people with pinpoint accuracy using her as both medic and sniper.
Its more likely to just get grazed by her laser than anything else and the nerf to her revives works just well to prevent spamming
